Bemoaning the state of music today? Might you try a little bit of NaNuchKa, a Brooklyn-Based, Isreali-born rock trio well outside of the fray. Start things out light with Red, before moving on to some experimentalism with Oh Yeah, Says Who. And if you really want an emotional punch, try Mediterranean, "a song about Isreal." Enjoy!

I get the impression that 50 percent of all those born in Israel move to New York or to California...I can understand the hardship of living in the Middle East and so assume that is a partial reason for leaving the country, and for show biz, the arts, etc the Big Apple is a magnet, but at a time when Israel is trying to get American Jews to move to Israel, it is almost as though there is an exchange program in operation.

Holy crap. This is strange. Add me to the "Hey I know Yula people." Yes, their music is political, but the band is amazing, I really hope more attention gets paid to that. If I wasn't so busy I'd try digging out more samples.

Also, I don't think I'd ever heard Yula called "soulless" before. The girl has lots of soul. And NaNuchKa is the name of a bar in Israel that the band likes, I believe.

Okay, no politics, no nothing, I care about none of it. Never heard of this band. Saw and listened to the samples -- love 'em. NaNuchKa is good. Of course, there are a lot of other good bands out there too. I like the Jeremy Fishers
