Prof. Indy Jones - at least he keeps the college co-eds attentive and in their seats.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is the second single link mcsweeney's post from 2006 and I think we have to draw the line at one. I might prefer to draw the line at zero, but so it goes. -- jessamyn

I like single link McSweeney's posts about as much as single link youtube posts.

Well, it was better than the next Indiana Jones movie is going to be.

I read "tenure" as "torture". That was intriguing.

This, not as much.

Me too! Let's have more of both!

I also read "tenure" as "torture."
How odd.

I thought the headline was funny. I was hoping it was an Onion link.

Um. "IRL" means "in real life", right?

The irony is too subtle for the likes of me, really. (It is irony, right? The OP didn't really think it was real, did he?)

Also, why is there so much McSweeney's today? It makes me sad.

I read tenure as 'treasure'. Very weird. Maybe the last word of the post is some kind of Rorschachian omni-word.

As an academic, this is hilarious.

I also misread that as "torture".

WTF is wrong with us, America?

I saw "tenure" just fine, but now I'm feeling left out.

Maybe I oughta go back and comically misread it a few times.

Is McSweeney's the new Cracked?

Thanks---that was really funny, and I would have missed it, otherwise! (Maybe you have to be involved in the tenure process, though, for the true funny to come through...)

I read it as torture too.... Weird.

I'm chuckling through it as we speak. erhm type. whatever.

Similar thoughts on the subject.

Still only somewhat amusing.

Whoah my, this has been a learning experience. Thanks bunches, gang!

Sounds like somebody's never had to earn tenure before.

I saw IRL as ILM thinking it was a George Lucas thing.

Marshall College? What the shit is a Marshall College? Dude taught at the University of Chicago AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT.

McSweeneys, Wholphin and The Believer are all super. Two years ago, I added McSweeney's to my "dailies" tabs because their lists and reviews of new food are standby lulz. I read this and THE OTHER single link McSweeney's FPP back then. I would not be carping if it weren't pitifully nostalgic for their funnier days, but I'm carping! I'm carping, I'm carping! Oldmeme widely-read magazine clippings aren't the best of the the web.

Oh, good.

I must admit: When push comes to shove, McSweeney's is better than Cracked. Or a SLYT. Or most single links really.

I had a Believer subscription for some time. It IS a fantastic periodical.
