So it's come to this. California - my favorite third world country. We've had terrorist rampages; water rationing; more recently, energy rationing; senior citizens holding a *bake sale* for god's sake in San Francisco to raise funds for affordable housing;
an encephalitis outbreak in Livermore and now this.
I don't know -- when I was a kid, the grown-ups always used to warn us: "It's all fun and games until somebody's brain gets eaten by an amoeba." But then, those were the same ones warning us to watch out for meteorites.

When was the last time anyone received a direct hit by a meteroite anywhere on this planet?
Meteorite stories: [1] [2] [3] [4] and a cranky [5], and some risk assessment.

Riddle me this, Batman: Has anyone ever been hit by a meteorite in San Francisco? When was the last time anyone received a direct hit by a meteroite anywhere on this planet?
The chances of a child discovering an amoeba eating the inside of her skull has a similar percentage chance to the range between being hit by a meteorite and coming across an idiot making an absurdly quasi-statistical statement to the media which then gets printed for the world to see.
