The reporting on that blog is a bit dodgy. The sites weren't giving away free bets but starting off new accoutns with credit, which I wouldn't say is that same thing. And it was the QLD bus, not NSW, that was spray-painted.
And I'm not sure why QLD were thought to be the favourites in the first place. They had the better players but not the better team (and I'm not so sure what the appeal of Maninga's coaching style is).
