Won't this merely hasten Muxtape's demise? posted by Flashman at 12:02 PM on May 27, 2008

You did it, Korou. You made me cry a little.
Thank you! posted by rmless at 1:45 PM on May 27, 2008
After combining the greasemonkey script and the muxfind, my jaw has dropped on the floor. Now, I just need to find someone that has busdriver's "Unemployed Black Astronaut" posted by drezdn at 1:55 PM on May 27, 2008
Sweet Jesus, who's paying for all this fucking bandwidth? They're using Amazon S3, of which the storage is NOT CHEAP.. with no ads. (thanks for the greasemonkey link) posted by amuseDetachment at 2:18 PM on May 27, 2008
This is a great way around the Muxtape TOS. I can imagine the formation of Muxtape rings in which 20 members of a release group host one file from an album each so that the whole thing is downloadable.

Am I missing something? MuxFind tells me I can only search for the name or url of a tape, so finding individual songs by artist or title is out. Hell, I tried searching for a Muxtape I made myself and it didn't find that. posted by TrialByMedia at 5:17 PM on May 27, 2008
Crap, they just changed it to only search for the name or url of a tape, before I got the damn greasy monkey thing working. Crap, crap, crap, crap. Yes, before about an hour ago you could search for an artist name or song name. Obviously, the CAD letter arrived. posted by yhbc at 5:27 PM on May 27, 2008
So how did it work? Did it just spider muxtape? Seems like the kind of thing a p2p distributed directory is made for. posted by bunnytricks at 5:38 PM on May 27, 2008 [1 favorite has favorites]
Wow, they are quick. Back to doing things the hard way. posted by lysistrata at 5:47 PM on May 27, 2008
This is the message I got:
Sorry!
I'm afraid there's not going to be any more keyword searches.
At least for now - because of the obvious legal issues.
What exactly ARE the legal issues here? I mean, if the site is searchable what's wrong with showing the results of such a search? posted by lysistrata at 5:53 PM on May 27, 2008
I was sad, but /<-R/\D1C\/S, god of copyright infringement, saw fit to release a Battlestar Galactica preair to make up for the loss of muxfind. posted by bunnytricks at 6:02 PM on May 27, 2008
