A few years ago, back when my SO and I were first starting to date, he asked me to help him make a resume-like website. At the time, he didn't even own a computer, so the internet was a big of a strange thing to him. So, as part of the process, I got a picture of him, and I showed him how I was editing it to get it online. Basic things, like how I was going to edit the size. So, I opened photoshop and explained some of the different tools to him.
His eyes got wide. The excitement was palpable. "Wait, wait," he said, "Does this mean you could do anything to it?"
"Well, yeah," I responded. "I'm not great, but with this software, it's possible."
"Could you... Could you..." You could see the wheels turning in his head, as he put together different possibilities, trying to find the best, wonderous thing to ask for. "Could you make me have the head of a cat?"

I actually liked the manbabies one. They were done quite well.
Back in the day, a coworker of mine liked to make color photocopies of people's family pics (on their desks) and cut out/paste on swapped heads. I thought it was quite clever until Scott Adams (of Dilbert fame) suggested pasting your own head on the desk photos of coworkers, at which point I realized it's just human nature to be amused by such things. posted by davejay at 12:45 PM on May 30, 2008

I like the ones where they don't even bother resizing the heads to the correct scale because it is absolutely terrifying. they aren't cat heads on lady bodies, they're just little cat nubbins posted by six-or-six-thirty at 1:41 PM on May 30, 2008
Right *now*, in my house, stuck to various pieces of artwork, are tiny 4 mm cut out heads of my wife. That Japanese woodblock of the tsunami, that's her right there in the boat about to get drowned. The center of the Nepalese mandala, that's my wife. That beautiful cubist still life of the bouquet of flowers, wait, what's that? It's my wife.

Okay, so, this is kind of complicated so I will break it down.
- People are acquiring pictures of people and their cats.
- They are then opening those pictures in Photoshop or possibly some other image editing program.
- With that program, they are putting the heads of of cats onto the humans.
- They are also putting the human heads onto the cats.
- This is fucking awesome. posted by cortex at 7:41 PM on May 30, 2008

Not a tenth as amusing and disturbing as the manbabies, sad to say. Also not a tenth of the photoshop quality.
I do support continued experimentation along this theme, though. Someday, some Somethingawful goon or Worth1000 contestant will find the perfect permutation, and the world will never be the same again. posted by rifflesby at 8:58 PM on May 30, 2008
