From the "Meaning" link: "Stonehenge Was [Royal] Cemetery First and Foremost, Study Says." If the theory holds up it might account for the skeletal remains buried there and (in one case) not evidence of "a grisly execution [having occured] at the famous site."

Stonehenge is a wonderful symbol of the pure quest for knowledge. We'll never know exactly what it meant to its builders and later users. But that doesn't mean we should stop trying to find out. It's also a grim symbol of the failure of the British planning system. What a mess that area is, a real national disgrace, and it's not going to be sorted out any time soon.

Well, I just watched the program that all this is a huge advertisement for, and I have to say, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the evidence. The head archeologist is more an author than a scientist.
