Okay, that's a lot more fun than it has any right to be.

I'm laughing too hard to say it, so I guess I'm doing it wrong.

I'm not sure if this is one of those threads where everybody is like "this sucks bleh" or where everyone pretends to like it, or one where people genuinely like it.

Uh, the first image I got was of an oven in a concentration camp with a body going into it. After a while, I hit refresh and a baby was eating the bad end of a stapler. It took three or four images before I didn't feel sick about what I was seeing. Tread carefully -- the images are random.

actually, it's the stapler that's eating the bad end of the baby, if you look closely.

mmm, good point. I did catch a rather nasty image and that's why I stopped clicking through the first time I saw it. shame.

TWO questions:

ONE - Where did the om nom meme begin?
TWO - Why has it gained such popularity in the last few months?
THREE -- I mean, THREE... THREE questions....

ONE - Where did the om nom meme begin?
TWO - Why has it gained such popularity in the last few months?
THREE - How can we make it stop?
FOUR - AH! CRAP! I mean FOUR questions....

ONE - Where did the om nom meme begin?
TWO - Why has it gained such popularity in the last few months?
THREE - How can we make it stop?
FOUR - Was this found via Fark?

Fuzzy Skinner, the first time I heard about the Om Nom Nom meme was shortly after the Minneapolis bridge collapse.

I got Chelsea Clinton holding an omnomnom umbrella over George W. Bush's head.

Guess that means I win.

This site bites. And chews.

And this was via BLORT, not Fark. BLORT. EVERLASTING BLORT. BLORT EVERLASTING. Which, under the guidance of MeFi's Own madamjujujive is just as BLORTY as it was when MeFi's Own quonsar was in charge.

Still, the disclaimer at the bottom of the BLORT "never been to manila. not powered by blogger. pitas are for eating. type immovable" needs to be amended to point out that its Words are also not Pressed.

Thanks branacles. I had not seen that before. So now I can feel guilty retroactively.

They are doing it wrong. This photoshopping of teeth onto random objects fails at humor and from my research I believe it may be a forced meme from something originally referring to the cookie monster and perhaps a gerbil, i.e. actual eating or eating references.

With the exception of the collapsed bridge (I can't believe I'm typing this) they are generally like lolcats but minus the variety and comedy. It's like "broken internet 'humor' 101." That usually seems to mean 4chan is behind it, because nobody develops un-jokes like 4chan. : P
