Talkin' 'bout the old style too: dawn Landes & the We Sorta Tried Bluegrass Band

dawn Landes & the We Sorta Tried Bluegrass Band perform a rather charming version of Peter, Bjorn and John's Young Folks [SLYT].
Sorry if this is kind of last-year-filter. Here's the original.

Yeah, it's a really nice cover, heard it on Coverville sometime last fall. Like fearfulsymmetry I prefer it to the original (especially after the original was played to death).
I love it when a song that's just alright becomes really delightful when covered well.

This thread needs balance!
I prefer the original, not simply due to the inclusion of bongos, but that is a big consideration! It has got the funk, where bluegrass does not.

Well, they're no P-Funk, it's true.

I was just commenting to some friends that while I appreciate the fact that someone transitioned this over to a different genre, I am in the *original* camp. Bongos + that whistling + Victoria Bergsman singing == win. I just feel like Peter & Victoria's voice compliment each other so well. *shrug*

i like this a lot more than the original. the original always struck me as rather pretentious.

Singers might be pretentious. Songs are not pretentious. This cover proves this.
This is a great find, thanks!

Transfer of music between different styles sometimes if funny. This is not even good bluegrass. Bad link.

Proper syntax of commentary on subjects is always important. That was not even a coherent thought. Bad comment.

What? No in-depth examination of the other plethora of covers?
The Kooks!
James Blunt!
Pete Yorn!
Some college band!
Some other band!
Two guys with guitars!
One guy with a guitar!
Acoustic!
High Schoolers! or something.
Some woman!
Some girl!
Ukelele!
Kanye West! kinda. sorta.
OK, so I've brought the plate, now if someone will post extensively on dawn Landes and the WSTBB, then we'll have some beans.

I will also vote for the original because of the bongos.

Ok, the bongos win by one vote.
