There's been two threads in the pretty recent past about the 14-year-old kid who made the animation, Hyakugojyuuichi -- some pro, some con. Let this be the third of such threads.
I don't know if this means that the kid has hit the big time, but I think it's quite remarkable that his animation has landed on the front page of Ifilm.com. I, for one, give a big congratulations to the kid. I hope it's only the beginning for him.

I like watching it. But I keep thinking, shouldn't this kid be in school? Read a little Plutarch and such? Looks like his head is fulla garbage. Gotta give him all the credit in the world though, for knowing how to set it to music.

There are all sorts of crazy pop flash animations on the Web. Why does this kid get picked?

I get the feeling that this kid decided to have a bit of fun with Flash, and accidentally stumbled onto a bit of "brilliant social commentary". Still, I'm glad he's getting a bit of recognition. It's a delightfully disturbing animation . . .

If he was in public school this type of freakish expression would have been beaten out of him years ago. I would assume he is reading and thinking about the types of things most kids his age are into. None of it would be Plutarch.

Captain, most kids his age are not into Roman history. But I don't he's most kids. And I'm sure you're wrong about "None." It's a big country with lots of kids and lots of libraries. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pico dude has read some Plutarch--like the part about Julius Caesar paying a return visit on the pirates who had kidnapped him and cruficying them. Bet the same thought has crossed the mind of our spy plane crew once or twice -"hotel-style" accomodations on Hainan or not. As far as public school killing creativity, that's not true. Almost every creative work we now have was created by someone attended school--usually a public school. A kid who can understand Flash can understand Plutarch.

any kid can understand flash! probably any kid could do plutarch, too, but i'm not making any promises.
