It's been proven that people tend to look like their dogs, but startling new findings reveal a freakish resemblance between Hollywood celebrities and Sesame Street puppets.

Janice and Donatella Versace

Okay, now that one was funny.

Even before clicking the link I knew Imus and Oscar the Grouch would be side by side. These are pretty fun.

I'm loving Billy Zane's new look. Sort of a Hollywood version of my Uncle Billy.

Queen Elizabeth -- a Hollwood celebrity? No. Her doppelgänger, Helen Mirren? Yes.

For some reason Gonzo's look and voice always reminded me of a blue-fuzzfaced Rod Stewart.
but that's just me...

I'm sorry. Guy Smiley and Ben Affleck? More like Guy Smiley and Brian Williams.

Pure-bred dogs can be matched to their owners by strangers most of the time. But the same does not hold true for mixed breed dogs...

So these are pure-bred muppets? Do muppets breed true?

...wait a minute. Are there any muppet families even on SS? There are a couple of skits that call for families and so a few muppets are thrown together, but are there any that maintain the relationship "behind the scenes"?

I've got this friend. He's, to put it politely, quite gifted in the schnozal region. But I'd never realized just how pointily triangular it was until about a month ago. We were at a wedding. He was wearing a tux and, being the sort to enjoy a good time, had knocked back about a dozen or so vodka clubs (don't get me started) and danced til he fell on the floor. By the end of the night, is what I'm saying, he was a bit disheveled. Tie undone, jacket off, suspenders askew. For some guffaws he turned his collar up. I just happened to catch him in profile. Entirely indistinguishable from The Count. I mean, really, stick this guy in an old castle and make him sing the Batty-Bat and you'd never know he wasn't a Muppet.

Haa, these are really cute. I particularly like the one of the Queen.

The bugs that live in Ernie's planter (except that they're now CGI!)

Some of these connections are pretty weak. There just happens to be a head angle in common. Kermit and Pharrell? Huh?

I'm seriously beginning to despise the websites that insist on breaking up one page's worth of content into twenty, so you have to keep clicking, and therefore increase their ad revenue. At least this one gave a thumbnail section on the page so I could glance at the rest of them and see that nothing outdid comparing Big Bird to The Queen. I mean if that's the best they got, I'm not helping their ad revenue. I gotta save my clickie finger for porn more important and artistically meaningful material.

What system of classification is being used when Queen Elizabeth, Don Imus and Alan Jackson are all filed under "Hollywood"?

The planter bugs are CGI now?! Is their house still a milk carton? That segment always made me want to break out the craft supplies.

Some of these are too generous. To the celebrities, that is. Flavor Flav is nowhere near as cool as Dr. Teeth.

Although the Adam Corolla & Jimmy Kimmel / Bert & Ernie one seems spot on.

This one is brilliant. From JEJ's slightly googly eyed expression, to cookie's slightly googlier yet more ifelike one. God. So good.

My problem is that having scrolled through a few, I opted for a click on the sidebar, "What the hell happened to your body?". Now I feel like Spock when, after forgetting to put on his protective eyewear, he gazed into the box containing the Medusan Ambassador Kolos... "AIEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(Is there in truth no beauty? Or has somebody already said that?)

This would be much more enjoyable if it was not on TMZ.com. The thumbnails are too tiny to see much, and I'm not going to click each and every one. If this was Digg I'd be looking for the link where someone ripped the images and posted them in a viewable, single page.

Except for the head-tilt and degree of mouth being open, most of the resemble is make-believe.

Cookie Monster and James Earl Jones? Please...and Cookie is a much better actor to boot.

but Janice and Versace was spot on, 8 on the Bizarro scale.

Ben Affleck and Brian Williams, fine. Just - please - don't tell me I look like Mitt Romney!

wait...I resemble my dog, and my dog resembles a muppet (a mix of fozzy and mr. snuffleupagus)...so where does that leave me?!?

Some intern had to spend hours and hours digging through photos of muppets and celebrities to find all of these matches.

and that intern probably loves their job
