As should be the movie, Robin Hood : Men In Tights.
it's not so bad. Even mediocre Mel Brooks is usually good for laughs, and it features a young Dave Chappelle. posted by jonmc at 10:05 AM on July 21, 2008
What about professional cyclists? Nice calves look good in tights.

Think I'm going to regret this...but family history insists that when I was about four I raced into the wrong dance studio at the posh London ballet school where I was due to start lessons. It was the adult male class. Apparently I raced out even faster, screaming in horror: "there are a load of men in there - and they've all poohed their pants..."

Ugh, such a bad movie. So many bad jokes. So much bad rap. And as for Chappelle - what a waste of his talents. There's a reason that we know him as a comedian and not a movie actor. posted by Afroblanco at 10:43 AM on July 21, 2008
I find it hard to take seriously a site supposedly devoted to the proud traditions of German hosiery, that nowhere, as far as I could discover, even mentionslederhosen. This I take as further evidence of the anti-Bavarian bias so typical in German society.
One between scenes goof? and Mel always had a weakness for Borscht Belt shtick, but he executed it better than most, and the fact that he cast Chappelle shows his eye for talent. (I'm not arguing that the movie is a lost masterpiece, mind you, merely that it's an amusing way to kill an evening.) posted by jonmc at 10:47 AM on July 21, 2008
Well, as long as we're on the Robin Hood kick, here are some stories and pictures that have nothing to do with Mel Brooks. posted by carsonb at 10:53 AM on July 21, 2008
One between scenes goof?
Huh. I could be remembering it wrong. From what I recall, there were numerous scenes where the story was "narrarated" in bad rap form.
However, it's been years since I've seen it. And I'm not going to watch it again.
Not to diss on Brooks or anything. The man is a genius. And he never missed a chance to make fun of Hitler. posted by Afroblanco at 11:21 AM on July 21, 2008

Indeed. One of the the greatest comedic minds of our time. and as far as the rap thing goes, between the between scenes goofs in that movie and "It's Good To be King" (his half-parodic 'rap' single) he was one of the earliest Hollywood people to recognize that hip-hop was a cultural phenomenon and not just a fad, (and thus ripe for his skewering). posted by jonmc at 11:35 AM on July 21, 2008
e-MANcipate - a project to accelerate the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item.
Because, hey, we women find pantyhose so totally emancipating. posted by madamjujujive at 12:09 PM on July 21, 2008 [1 favorite]

unless one is a professional wrestler, tights should be avoided by men at all costs.
