Houston, We Don't Have A Problem, except for the fact that our public transportation sucks, and we are ranked last in recycling. But we don't care, we are busy bashing Portland.

A comment about Houston's public transportation: Yes we have many Subways, they make great sandwiches and good cookies...though I wish the bags of chips, had more chips.

We have a great taxi system, if you are at the airport.

The bus system is great, as long as you have a car and a key map to drive to the "Park and Ride" to actually get on the bus.

The train goes from just south of downtown to downtown, its so nice, I took my kids to ride it as cheap entertainment.

Yes you do need a car in Houston, you can survive without it, you can ride the train if you live downtown (you wont go anywhere else)

Yes, Portland is horrible. Don't move here. Stay in Houston.

On a brighter note, Houston recycles a whopping 2.6% of its waste.

I grew up in Houston, and need to drive out there again in the morning to stay for a few days.

Houston sucks. And it doesn't matter much to me, a visitor, how well the economy is doing when nobody from the top on down has any degree of taste in how to spend it.

Mean, ugly, willfully ignorant city of the damned.

Austin is great though.

Duh, the transit links blinded me to the recycling link, sorry.

Indeed. It's full of hippies, it's terribly polluted, overpopulated, poorly laid out, the beer sucks, the music scene sucks, the snowboarding sucks. Stay far, far away.

I refuse to read anything that uses (not once, but several times) the so-called word visioning. As in "aggressive visioning by City Council". Oy.
