For me it's the little white formal collar that imbues Vampirella with just the right air of nobility. It makes us respect her, even given the trashiness of the rest of her, um, attire.

Reminded me of the repeated showing of Comics Britannia, a documentary series on the history of British comics, recently which mentioned in passing that the artists on the trendy girl's comics of the 60s and 70s were Spanish/South American... though admittedly Vampirella is a fair distance from Jackie
