Annie Fellows Johnston wrote The Little Colonel books. Kate Seston Matthews, her friend and neighbour, took photographs depicting characters from the series.

Well, it's nice to see the Penn Library and even the Gutenberg texts preserving some of the original illustrations. Too often the pictures and printmaking get washed away in the conversion to digital, even when the print artistry is of obvious importance to the whole (like with Blake's poetry, and of course with children's books).
