Andre Perkowski has remixed various classic silent films, including The Bat and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari to create a silent 1920's version of Batman: Origin Story, Rogues' Gallery.

Also: Adam West in The Dark Knight Returns.

Note that this theme has been explored in comics as well:

Batman and Dracula: Red Rain (1991)
Batman: Nosferatu (1999)

The silent films ran a little longer than their "interval of interesting," and aside from the Joker, a lot of those Rogue's Gallery picks were real stretches. Was the Penguin originally Ben Franklin?

However, the Adam West Returns link was pure fucking gold. I'm gonna go back and read it again right now.

This is excellent. A bit of a stretch for the rogues' gallery, sure, but man, that was fun.

Heh. I get a post deleted and then someone links to something I made.

The Dark Knight Returns thing came out of a conversation with a friend, when it was mentioned that Frank Miller used Adam West as his template for Batman in DKR. One thing led to another, badda badda badda...BAM.

beaucoupkevin, you admitted it too soon. You should have waited a couple of hours and taken note of all the people who said "meh." Then you'd have a proper MeFi Enemies List.

I thought the Adam West/DKR thing was pretty funny. Nice.

Adam West speaking lines from Dark Knight Returns = win. Very funny beaucoupkevin.

Coincidentally I just started re-reading DKR last night. Weird.
