A proposed new extensionto Seattle's no-sitting law will include prohibition of walking on public sidewalks:

The new language modifies sections 040.A and 040.B, and includes "leg movement for the purpose of mobility" (walking), "appendicular locomotion" (including hopping and cartwheels), and "excessive forward progression" (running), but expressly permits standing still. "We figured if they managed to get into position and stay there, they were probably fairly with-it, and were likely to look neat and orderly" Sidran said. I live downtown, I have no car, and Kozmo went out of business. Can anyone give me a lift to the gathering?

Um... why are there sidewalks? I suppose they are there for decoration. And what happens if you are waiting for a bus or taxicab?

roboto, I think the whole idea of Sidran's campaign is to make Schell look good in comparison. Sidran is the only possible candidate sinister enough to scare people into wishing for another term of Schell.

Erm, it's a parody site. Probably didn't need to say that.

As for hapless Paul Schell, I'm going to quote this article from the latest issue of The Stranger:

[Schell] actually has some impressive and tangible accomplishments to run on. His excellent Cedar River Habitat Conservation Plan, which eliminates logging from the entire upper watershed, met with high praise from local environmentalists. His efforts on behalf of the neighborhoods pumped $4.5 million into 800 neighborhood projects, more than tripling the neighborhood matching fund. And his smart budget priorities--including $9 million in new homeless initiatives in the most recent city budget--helped increase shelter bed capacity by 20 percent since 1998.

So maybe lay off the guy a little.

I'd vote for the ordinance. City sidewalks do not have enough rights in this country. Someone should stand up and fight for them.

Voting for Schell I see you are roboto; ie "monolith".

I don't know what Sidran hopes to prove in this city. I can't possibly see how he'd get thirty percent of Seattle's vote. Shit, Joe Szwaja won twenty percent in Seattle and Vashon, more than a republican could even get around here.

We're the bluest of blues on that map.
