That's so awesome! I would sleep soundly under one of those, and if any quilters on Etsy want to make a few bucks... Well winter's just around the corner and I only own one blanket. posted by Science! at 8:40 AM on September 5, 2008
As a quilter, I can guarantee you that one of those babies would cost hundreds of dollars. The time spent cutting and sewing all those half-square triangles is enormous.
That said, if anyone wants to commission a genome quilt, I'm available on MeMail... posted by cereselle at 8:54 AM on September 5, 2008
Love them. Double Helix II looks for all the world like a Paul Klee painting. Me want. posted by heyho at 9:01 AM on September 5, 2008

This initially struck me as awesome, but it looks like she's just ignoring the encoding and making the visual pattern of the quilt out of different colored squares.
Now, if she used some stem-and-loop regions or something for local symmetry, that would be pretty cool. posted by gurple at 9:31 AM on September 5, 2008

Between $1,000 and $5,000 according to her site. posted by PeterMcDermott at 10:03 AM on September 5, 2008
Aha, I hadn't looked at the pricing. And those are art quilts, not sleeping-under quilts. Bed quilts are much bigger (a standard twin quilt is ~ 70x90 inches). posted by cereselle at 12:11 PM on September 5, 2008
