I got two actual cat. One painting with a cat in it. A hotel's "Pet Menu". And a little girl wearing a hard hat. No idea what's up with the last. posted by Perplexity at 1:33 PM on September 11, 2008

rickroll... I got cattails. posted by desjardins at 1:35 PM on September 11, 2008
Meh. I know for a fact that there are cats closer than that. posted by grateful at 1:38 PM on September 11, 2008
Wow, all five of mine were actual kitties. Cute ones! posted by peep at 1:38 PM on September 11, 2008
I got one cat who was in a parade once which passed near my house. The rest seemed legit. posted by aubilenon at 1:40 PM on September 11, 2008

I got a scan of a cat on a cat-of-the-day calendar, a real cat, a dead cat (pictured whilst alive), a sad cat, and a stray cat. posted by cashman at 1:46 PM on September 11, 2008
One of mine was in Cameroon. I think my cat is outsourcing her expensive-leather-chair-destroying activities. posted by bonecrusher at 1:47 PM on September 11, 2008 [1 favorite]
It did not pull up my three cats, who I assure you are definately near where I live.
How do you add stuff? Can you add stuff? posted by sandraregina at 1:48 PM on September 11, 2008
I am trying to location-tag my cats, but Flickr is not cooperating. This is disappointing. posted by uncleozzy at 1:49 PM on September 11, 2008
I got 5 cats, though one was an lolcat. posted by Mr_Zero at 1:50 PM on September 11, 2008
Have you tried hiding the tag inside some raw meat? posted by Artw at 1:51 PM on September 11, 2008 [7 favorites]
My older cat won't eat raw meat. He won't even eat sushi-grade tuna. Nothing but the finest kibble will satisfy his palate. posted by uncleozzy at 1:59 PM on September 11, 2008
You idiot! If the dogs get hold of this, there will be felicide, and it will be your fault.
Our only hope is that they input something in the address field like "big shelter food boy food boy tree my pee my pee my pee." posted by Clyde Mnestra at 2:05 PM on September 11, 2008 [5 favorites]
I generally smear the tags on the forepaws and let the cat lick them off. posted by brundlefly at 2:19 PM on September 11, 2008 [1 favorite]
Well, that was a bit creepy. I got a photo I took two years ago of my friend's cat, a photo of some cat-based stencil graffiti at the end of my road, and a photo of a girl called Cat, who I met at a party a couple of months ago.
iamnear is a pretty great site, though. I used its pubs feature when I had an afternoon to kill in Cardiff, and hope to one day to find a use for its megaliths option. posted by jack_mo at 2:23 PM on September 11, 2008
Artw: I got the exact same results. We must be neighbors! posted by proj at 2:27 PM on September 11, 2008

I got four cats and a drawing of Itchy and Scratchy. One cat's name was Avocado, and I thought, "Jeepers, that's a long name for a cat," but then I realized they don't come when you call them anyway. posted by katillathehun at 3:08 PM on September 11, 2008 [1 favorite]
It worked for me. I have 4 cats but none of them are "available" for this. I should play, I guess. posted by Danf at 3:09 PM on September 11, 2008
I got a couple of real cats, a drunken drawing that included a cat, and two cat statues in the British Museum, which is indeed very close to me. But one of the British Museum cat photographers seems to have been a bit confused as to where the museum is on a map. posted by sueinnyc at 3:31 PM on September 11, 2008
I thought this and this were incorrect, at first. posted by Tehanu at 3:37 PM on September 11, 2008
There is a cat IN MY TOWN. It's even near my house! posted by arcticwoman at 4:13 PM on September 11, 2008 [1 favorite]
I'm about to move and would like to know if there are cat owners around in the new locale who might be able to feed my cat while away and I'd be happy to do the same for them.
One for dogs may even be of greater use. I like walking a dog once in a while and I have a friend who would love to walk a dog on a semi-regular basis.
An app that did dogs might allow us to help someone with a dog and help us. posted by sien at 5:46 PM on September 11, 2008 [1 favorite]

This is the cat nearest to me. This one is six inches to the left of the other cat.
One cat's name was Avocado, and I thought, "Jeepers, that's a long name for a cat," but then I realized they don't come when you call them anyway.
My cat's name is Wensleydale and she does know her name. She will respond when you call her, though sometimes she will look at you and then shun you. She does acknowledge that you are speaking to her, it's just sometimes, she doesn't give a fuck. posted by grapefruitmoon at 5:16 AM on September 12, 2008
A hotel's "Pet Menu"
I got one of those, too. Mayhaps we are in the same neighborhood? posted by grapefruitmoon at 5:22 AM on September 12, 2008
My cats come when I call them. I figure the reason other people's cats don't is because the cats don't like them much. posted by grubi at 7:52 AM on September 12, 2008
