Just count your blessings. "Hashanah" (השנה) means "the year". It could be a 8760-hour Rush marathon if they were feeling extra literal.

I don't know, I just feel like I gotta say something in this thread. I was nuts about these guys in high school, probably saw them about six times around the Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures period. I really haven't kept up with them, some of their '90s stuff sounds (just reading about it, not hearing it) intriguing. Good to see the Colbert video and even better to see they can still deliver.

You can hear it at the beginning of "Take Off" by Bob & Doug McKenzie. Aside from a mild Canuck accent, he sounds normal. He also proves he has a sense of humor.

Dude, I didn't realize 'Canuck' was that serious a slur. In Vermont where my mom grew up it was used like a casual slang term. No offense intended. (although there's a hockey team in your province by that name).

Fair enough, jonmc. That's how we talk, including the "eh"s, and I admit that Geddy and Dave and Rick might have laid it on a bit thick in the GWN days. But not that much.

(and I will say this. Canada takes better care of their mullet rockers than Americans. When i was 17, my family went on vacation to Quebec City. After dinner, we kids were let loose on our own and I wandered into some metal/biker bar. There was a video screen playing the usual suspects-AC/DC, Kiss,- and everybody bobbed their heads politely. Then Triumph's 'Follow Your Heart,' came on and the place went apeshit cheering and singing along. When I told that story to a Torontan friend (and MeFite) he said 'Oh Yeah, Rik Emmett never has to pay for drinks in Canada, man.')

My resistance cracked when I happened to catch the Rush in Rio DVD - they ROCKED. And then I saw the Alex Lifeson Cameo on Trailer Park Boys (ytl). After seeing the band live (and nailing it), from the 10th row, I was hooked. (it didn't hurt that I had the stadium women's room all to myself).
Of course there was the Colbert appearance, then the RockStar clip.
Plus Geddy Lee has aged in a way that I find most appealing, Neil Peart drives a BMW motorcycle, and they all seem like truly nice guys.
I know what I'll be doing the weekend of September 29th.
