It's a damn good thing non of my co-workers seem to be around, since this made me chortle and chuckle and snort and, yes, LOL.

Most excellent. Ninja cat, indeed. :) posted by Malor at 10:40 AM on September 15, 2008
My cat does the exact same thing, only when he gets right up close to you he quickly smacks you in the face and runs away. Good post! posted by fusinski at 10:41 AM on September 15, 2008
I saw that yesterday and loved it. posted by cashman at 10:53 AM on September 15, 2008
It was funnest to just randomly click ahead on the progress bar while the video was playing - MUCH more kitty-stealthy-creepy. posted by ersatzkat at 10:54 AM on September 15, 2008

That's it--I was on the fence with my cats' little hoard of old Soldier of Fortune magazines, but that shit is getting recycled. TODAY. posted by everichon at 11:56 AM on September 15, 2008 [4 favorites has favorites]
Oh lord that was so much funnier than I thought it would be. I had to cover my mouth to prevent from laughing out loud (currently in my library's computer lab, trying to kill time before my shift). posted by flibbertigibbet at 12:17 PM on September 15, 2008
We used to play what we called "The Face Game." My sister's cat ("Buddy") would be on the stairs, and my sister and brother and I would take turns putting our faces up against the bannister.
Buddy would peer intently at us, but when her iris (irises? Irii?) dilated, we knew it was time to step away from the bannister, because she was about to swat us with her deadly paw.
Watching that cat's eyes at the end -- WATCH OUT!
(PS: Never name your cat "Buddy." One day my sister needed to call the cat in, and a new neighbor was standing outside his house. You can imagine his confusion as some lady down the street starts shouting "Buddy! Hey buddy! Come on, buddy! Get your ass in here, buddy!") posted by potsmokinghippieoverlord at 12:42 PM on September 15, 2008

I'm a sucker for an animal video but I didn't find this one funny or interesting or novel in any way. posted by grounded at 1:28 PM on September 15, 2008
This was boring until the cat got caught frozen halfway across the legs of the chair; at that point, he could no longer deny he had been sneaking closer (had he been able to understand your question on the subject) and from then on I enjoyed it. posted by davejay at 1:33 PM on September 15, 2008
I did not expect to like this, but by the time he made it over the chair I was giggling. When the camera made that final cut back to the cat's FACE, I lost it. Good work. posted by vytae at 1:58 PM on September 15, 2008
This is actually a great insight into cat psychology. As the camera is ducking behind the wall, the cat recognizes that it's safe to move in closer, and as soon as it comes back, the cat freezes so not to reveal it's presence.
It's cute, and sweet, and funny in a Dr Who kind of way, but it's also revealing in a "Hey, my cat isn't all that removed from those big fuckers in the jungle" hunting strategy kind of way as well.
A great joke to play on a cat: do exactly what this camera holder is doing, but at about the halfway point have an RC car just under the desk, as you bob back and forth, the kitty is going to be so totally focused on you not seeing it move, that it will completely neglect to notice the car as it walks past. When you know it's close just rev the engine and have the car move forward a little bit.

You have to admit that this is a pretty exceptional cat video. Hell, it's entertaining even for people who aren't into cats -- I don't remember literally laughing out loud at a video like this in a long time. posted by spiderskull at 2:29 PM on September 15, 2008
ha...nice. ninja cat! all cats are ninjas! posted by kingofhappy at 2:53 PM on September 15, 2008
However, he's not as stealthy as this guy. As soon as I pull back around the corner, he careens around and usually smashes right into me. posted by desjardins at 4:02 PM on September 15, 2008
Not a cat person really, but this cat is cool. Fear for the lives of birds and all small, furry animals in its neighbourhood! posted by Effigy2000 at 4:19 PM on September 15, 2008

The first thing I thought when I saw this was the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who (which DU already posted). While in Doctor Who that's reeaaally creepy, the cat was really funny! posted by Deflagro at 4:38 PM on September 15, 2008
potsmokinghippieoverlord: Never name your cat "Buddy."
You think that's bad? I've got a black cat named Blackjack, which is all right to yell out the door at night, but my ex used to have little "nicknames" for him based around that idea. Always fun to see her leaning out the door calling for "Black Boy", or "Black One". Facepalm. posted by barc0001 at 5:28 PM on September 15, 2008
I was holding it together, watching this. No, really. A grin, maybe a little chuckle.
And then the moment at about 1:04? I fucking lost it.

My first thought, too, was "Hey, Steven Moffat's cat!" followed quickly by hysterical laughter, then that pathetic issocute! response that I think most normal women save for babies.
Then I watched it 40 more times. posted by you're a kitty! at 9:44 PM on September 16, 2008
