Awesome! That's cooler than what my Bengal does. With her that game goes like this: a) look at you from across the room b) you disappear around corner repeat a-b four to five times. Maybe more. On last disappear around corner (and there's no way to know which one that is) c) thunder of tiny paws d) Bengal pounces around corner. Huzzah! You were back here all the time. I knew it! It's pretty neat, but that's much more sophisticated.

We used to play what we called "The Face Game." My sister's cat ("Buddy") would be on the stairs, and my sister and brother and I would take turns putting our faces up against the bannister. Buddy would peer intently at us, but when her iris (irises? Irii?) dilated, we knew it was time to step away from the bannister, because she was about to swat us with her deadly paw. Watching that cat's eyes at the end -- WATCH OUT! (PS: Never name your cat "Buddy." One day my sister needed to call the cat in, and a new neighbor was standing outside his house. You can imagine his confusion as some lady down the street starts shouting "Buddy! Hey buddy! Come on, buddy! Get your ass in here, buddy!")

This was boring until the cat got caught frozen halfway across the legs of the chair; at that point, he could no longer deny he had been sneaking closer (had he been able to understand your question on the subject) and from then on I enjoyed it.

This is actually a great insight into cat psychology. As the camera is ducking behind the wall, the cat recognizes that it's safe to move in closer, and as soon as it comes back, the cat freezes so not to reveal it's presence. It's cute, and sweet, and funny in a Dr Who kind of way, but it's also revealing in a "Hey, my cat isn't all that removed from those big fuckers in the jungle" hunting strategy kind of way as well. A great joke to play on a cat: do exactly what this camera holder is doing, but at about the halfway point have an RC car just under the desk, as you bob back and forth, the kitty is going to be so totally focused on you not seeing it move, that it will completely neglect to notice the car as it walks past. When you know it's close just rev the engine and have the car move forward a little bit. It will put the cat into orbit. I'm a bad person for having done this. Repeatedly.

I've got a black cat named Blackjack, which is all right to yell out the door at night, but my ex used to have little "nicknames" for him based around that idea.
