The SFW porn thing is an established internet meme. Now it will be used to sell very expensive pants. Great. posted by bookish at 10:50 AM on September 26, 2008 [1 favorite]
Does this have something to do with blue pants? posted by fixedgear at 10:52 AM on September 26, 2008
omg someone said sex
You know, I'd seen this idea a few times in cheeky photoshop contests, but it took an agency with real chutzpah to take this to the whole next level of live action shoppin'. posted by cavalier at 10:53 AM on September 26, 2008
Does the sound work for anyone, or is my browser just wonky? posted by Science! at 10:55 AM on September 26, 2008

Yes, and it is wonderful!

You realize you don't actually have to buy the pants if you watched and enjoyed the clip, right? posted by Alvy Ampersand at 10:57 AM on September 26, 2008
Actually, I think under the new WTO copyright treaty, that would be considered piracy. posted by Naberius at 10:58 AM on September 26, 2008

Heh. I watched the whole thing, then typed in the web address, briefly looked it over and quickly closed it because I thought it was for a band. But if I can buy pants, and expensive pants at that, it may just be worth another look. posted by Science! at 11:00 AM on September 26, 2008
And here I thought I'd get a ... references list... "Harmonica and trumpet" for every twenty gallons of gas I bought. Which is odd, because my car doesn't use diesel. posted by boo_radley at 11:04 AM on September 26, 2008
Nope, still don't have the slightest desire to buy Diesel clothing. posted by greenie2600 at 11:14 AM on September 26, 2008 [2 favorites]
I really hated this meme before it went live action. Now it's fantastic. posted by ryoshu at 11:15 AM on September 26, 2008
Hey dickbag marketers/"creatives" out there seluthing for memes! I've got a fantastic motto for you-
"Diesel Clothing: It's like you're wearing a brief fad from 2006 from a site that is the epicenter of the dregs of the internet, that great invention that has made us all retarded."
the fuckers at 4chan should open an ad agency. I can hardly wait to see the motivational poster parody ads. posted by GuyZero at 11:22 AM on September 26, 2008
the fuckers at 4chan should open an ad agency.
That's a recipe for a clusterfuck of epic proportions. In other words, I fully support that idea.
The ad agency that created this is called the viral factory and I could amost bet money on them being members at 4chan. ;) [this was also posted on my advertising obsessed site yesterday in quicktime format for those who fancy QT.] posted by dabitch at 11:33 AM on September 26, 2008
Nah, it's more like Jolt cola with shitload of rum and maybe blue curacao. posted by not_on_display at 12:18 PM on September 26, 2008
Diesel did pay for Something Awful Goons that inspired the ad to get free forum upgrades on Something Awful; so it's not like they're hiding the fact they got the idea there. posted by revgeorge at 12:51 PM on September 26, 2008
It just got taken down. posted by Bort at 1:32 PM on September 26, 2008
The funny doesn't quite cover up the yucky. However, the starting material isn't as soulless as could be. I wonder if older porn was picked because we don't react as vicerally to it, or because it tends to feature a more relaxed, happy sense of sexuality, and is easier to goof on. Or if there's a difference. posted by Ambrosia Voyeur at 9:47 PM on September 26, 2008
@ambrosia, I suspect they used the old porn because it was easier to get clearances on it (if they bothered; I'm sure a lot of porn studios have a half-life most easily measured in femtoseconds). posted by jenkinsEar at 12:54 PM on September 27, 2008
