Great. Sounds like she influenced Whitney a whole lot more than Dionne did. posted by AppleSeed at 5:24 AM on October 25, 2008
Thanks, mods, for fixing my spelling error! And please note, in fairness to twoleftfeet, his comment above was in reference to said spelling error, in case anyone's scratching their head as to that comment's meaning! posted by flapjax at midnite at 6:32 AM on October 25, 2008
And thanks also, I guess, to whoever added the dionnewarwaick tag! posted by flapjax at midnite at 6:35 AM on October 25, 2008
I always get her mixed up with Dee Dee Sharp, I think because both used Gamble and Huff as producers.
But then I always assumed Thelma Houston was part of Cissy's dynasty as well, and apparently she's no relation. posted by PeterMcDermott at 6:37 AM on October 25, 2008

Thanks flapjax! I look like an idiot easily enough on my own, so I appreciate your effort to explain why I look like an idiot this time. (If only every comment that referred to an earlier deleted comment could itself be deleted then it might be a better world. But that might delete every comment, everywhere.) posted by twoleftfeet at 6:39 AM on October 25, 2008
Fantastic voice - "I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face" is splendid, but for me "I haven't Got Anything Better To Do" is the definitive Dee Dee track. (Unfortunately I can't find any links for these though). posted by niceness at 11:15 AM on October 25, 2008

Her cover of Suspicious Minds is simply splendid. posted by ob at 11:57 AM on October 25, 2008
Huh, I'd never heard of her before but I'm a Dionne Warwick fan and listening to some clips on YouTube just now, I'm enjoying the similarities but also the rawer feeling of her voice. posted by serazin at 2:48 PM on October 25, 2008
And do not miss Dee's take on You're No Good. Tough!
Tough indeed! That kicks total ass! Nice distortion guitar solo, too. Thanks, applemeat! posted by flapjax at midnite at 7:16 PM on October 25, 2008
