Dee Dee Warwick, sister of Dionne and a fine soul singer in her own right, recently passed on to that other shore. This blog entry on Dee Dee features mp3 links to her wonderful cover of the Elvis Presley hit Suspicious Minds and the heartrending She Didn't Know. I always get her mixed up with Dee Dee Sharp, I think because both used Gamble and Huff as producers.

But then I always assumed Thelma Houston was part of Cissy's dynasty as well, and apparently she's no relation.

Fantastic voice - "I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face" is splendid, but for me "I haven't Got Anything Better To Do" is the definitive Dee Dee track. (Unfortunately I can't find any links for these though).

Huh, I'd never heard of her before but I'm a Dionne Warwick fan and listening to some clips on YouTube just now, I'm enjoying the similarities but also the rawer feeling of her voice.
