Bassets for Obama! Of course, they aren't the only dogs campaigning for Obama .

The last one is my favorite. I swear it's not a self-link.

I love dogs and I am voting for Obama but for some reason your post fills me with a nearly uncontrollable rage, TPS.

This is not helping me convince my cat to support Obama.

Because people are pandering to the baser emotions of others, instead of the higher morals and intellectual side of things? Or you imagine that dogs are above politicking, and instead have their own Utopian society which we simple humans cannot fathom.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell everyone that I am getting a pug puppy for my daughter this Saturday. Yes, it's an ebony one, not a tan one.

Aw I liked it! Made me laugh. Wish I could buy Obama pet swag from Obama's store. They sell everything but. Why can't I get the Sofi dogger an Obama frisby? Or the Rae Rae pup a studded Obama collar with matching safety seat belt attachment?

Consider this: the next time you are wondering if the Internet is still awesomely weird, just remember this: the Bassets for Obama have a theme song.

Do you have a theme song?

Exactly.

My four year old asks one day, completely out of the blue, "When Rockobama wins, do I get a doggie?"

We had no idea where she got it from until we realized she'd seen this picture and thought Obama = free puppies.

I asked her if McCain won would she get a kitty. She said no, because she wants "The Blue Team" to win, and also because kitties make Daddy sneeze.

Damn straight, haters! BASSETS FOR OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA!

I'm using the Basset Theme Song as my own theme song until someone can come up with a theme song that can conceivably rhyme with Thespian.

And I want a Rockobama t-shirt.

According to my friend's 3 year old, Sarah Palin is responsible for all the evil in the world, including the disappearance of her favorite Puff the Magic Dragon video from Youtube.

I think if you put her in a room with the Rockobama child above you'd create a serious flux in the space-time continuum, resulting in a world populated by Bichon puppies and huge, non-fire-breathing dragons.

I could get behind that.

Okay, I do think the principle is a liiiiittle bit dippy. But on the other hand -- the "Bassets for Obama" caught a shot of the bassets riding on the back of the motorcycle with their jowls and lips all flappy in the breeze, and that just makes me giggle too hard to care much. Doesn't have much to do with the election, but -- come on, flappy basset lips!
posted by EmpressCallipygos at 7:35 PM on October 28, 2008

dw - your daughter has been watching the news. Obama seems to have told his children that after the election he will "think about" getting them a dog. They want one. He, or him speaking for the missus, not so much.

Not that this less than pro-dog personal stance affected my early vote, my door knocking, or my phone calls one little bit.

At first I thought the title was Bassists for Obama!

*disclaimer* no bassets or bassists for forced to wear lipstick for this video.

I'm just not sure where Obama stands on some critical basset hound issues: sloth, baying mournfully, and ball-licking. I don't know if Obama is really the prime basset candidate; he's industrious, cheerful, and so far we haven't seen anything about his grooming habits that suggest a fondness for taking a deeply personal approach to hygeine.

Apparently, some basset hounds disagree with Obama. (That link, by the way, exists at some frightening nexus where I can no longer differentiate between irony and idiocy.)
