British students, ambassadors, even singers are all at it. Don't you want to host a political fundraiser too?

Amazing, the Labour Party is fielding third-year politics students these days? But apparently it's true.

I don't see how the US Federal Election Campaign could prosecute her. Maybe they could send helicopters.

It's amazing how potent an example of a legal grey area this is. I mean, of course I understand why it would be illegal if I (a British citizen) donate directly to a US political campaign. And by extension, I can see how it's equally wrong if I give $2300 to, say, cortex, and ask him to donate that amount to a US campaign.

But what if I send cortex $2300 and tell him to spend it on donuts, but he gives it to Daniel DeNardo instead? Is anyone breaking the law then? If so, who and what law and in what jurisdiction?

And indeed, how can I possibly be prosecuted? I wonder if there are any precedents in which that actually happened.

Em, let's assume that cortex is Alaskan for the above thought experiment.

Let's be clear: there's no way I wouldn't be spending it on donuts. If you want to contrive a plausible scenario here, make the donuts run for office.

That's a campaign I could get behind.

Josh, I'll try to find you some and I'll bring 'em to ya.

IIRC, cortex would spent $2300 on just ONE donut.

I'm happy to pass cash to Cortex from others. For donuts, political donations, drugs or whatever...
