And those are some scary pumpkins! I took some pictures at the Keene (NH) Pumpkin Festival, but none are quite that scary. Well, maybe this one.

omg Nicky, that is so strange. I had a dream about jetpacks last night. It was set in the near future and instead of strapping the pack to your back, you flew suspended from a harness suspended from two independent jets, each computer controlled and constantly updated by a topographical gps (in the dream, gps had evolved to be able to not just show roads and houses, but a constantly updated, perfect holographic, topographic representation of the environment that could measure the world down to the topmost leaf of every tree and could even trace the movements of a single bird in a swarm of birds) That Predator pumpkin is amazing.

aww dearest vronsky, who I love very much. Thanks for the Leslie West/Mountain video. Haven't heard their music since I saw them live in NYC in 1970, a whole 'nother planet ago. That is a charming song. shucks. Sweet flying dream you had. Not just the archetypal amazingness of flight but techno hyped and modded out with super astute holographic gps navigation. Kewl. Oh wow Nicky, was it the Fillmore East? (lovely guitar intro to Long Red) I discovered them digging through my hippy older sister's record collection when I was a kid. I used to find the best stuff looking through her room -- Abby Hoffman books, one art book that was supposed to represent LSD trips, a series of human potential books called, I think, The Ultimate Vagabond, and her awesome record collection. It is probably where my crate digging tendencies come from. Mountain morphed into a completely uninteresting hard rock/biker band later on, but their early stuff has a quality to it that just never gets old for me. I'm not sure where all the technological stuff came from in my dream, I'm a bit of a luddite in real life (I don't have or even want a cell phone) but it was amazing, dragging my big toe across the ocean at 100 mph, zooming through the canyons of NYC and then flying up to an apple tree and plucking the shiniest one from the branch before continuing my journey. I used to have flying dreams all the time when I was young, then it seemed like they were stuck in the mud for years. Now I'm flying again... go figure. (and speaking of crate digging, some kind soul -- apparently from japan judging from the youtube address -- has uploaded tons of hard to find Prince Buster and other early reggae tunes. Was that book The Vagabond in Limbo - An Ultimate Alchemist? Mountain played the Fillmore in NYC in December '70, I'd already left for Europe by then. Not sure where I saw them. Saw an amazing number of concerts at the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park, at the Fillmore and various venues in the city. Got them jumbled up. Cool dream! Signifies awakening.

What years did you live in Jamaica Nicky? And what part? I know you've told me but I have completely forgotten. And no that wasn't it. It was more of a Mother Earth/Lonely Planet type book. I'll ask her because I really can't remember and I know she still has it.

vronsky, *shy to talk about this stuff in a design filter thread. Jamaica 1959 to 1964. Just outside Kingston, 4 Retreat Avenue off the Old Hope Road. It's the Indian Consulate now, a beautiful old colonial house.
