One of the many reasons I come to Metafilter is to see what's up in new art directions. Thanks for this post. Loved all the websites, which is such a relief. Why is that artists usually make it sooo aggravating to see their images? I get fed up with most sites. But not these. These ones are just right. Entertaining, beautifully minimalist and easy to navigate.
I love Sophie Blackeall's endearing and beautiful images, something oddly old-fashioned and also new about them simultaneously. Ilya's art has that darkly playful Slavic thing going on, gently macabre in a friendly way. Andre Metzger does amazing things with so few lines and colors. wow. How does he do that? posted by nickyskye at 3:01 PM on November 3, 2008
