The first McCain call I clicked on:
"and finally, it's in the U.S. Constitution that the president must be Christian, so the choice is obvious."

I hope that was a prank call.

Sounds like a McCain supporter to me.
posted by gman at 5:19 PM on November 3, 2008

What the crap is this? All of the ones I've clicked on -- red, blue, green or black -- have been endorsing Bob Barr.

Can I just stick my head out the window and yell instead?

If you hear one saying, "I'm voting for Barack Obama because fossils belong in museums, not the White House," that'd be me.

I'm playing the 'put a Metafilter nickname to a recorded message' game.

Just don't call my phone number.

Just don't call my phone number.

But I have important information about life insurance that could save you thousands!

Just a warning to consider your privacy, before calling.

I left my message. It was kinda bitchy but I feel strongly. Shocker, I know.

"[Obama and Biden] sound like Castro's party, in Cuba, and that's why I'll be voting for McCain, who is the conservative, Christian choice we need to get back to greatness in America."
posted by uncleozzy at 5:38 PM on November 3, 2008

This would be a great idea if it weren't for the fact that the only McCain one that would fail to make my asplode would be "I'm a billionaire weapons dealer hoping for war with Iran and I'm going to use the profits to kill gays". I mean, that would be awful, but at least it would be informed.

Next up: Call a number and listen to Bjork explain why you're voting the way you are.
posted by CKmtl at 5:39 PM on November 3, 2008 [4 favorites]

BP: I have paid number blocking on my phone, so I'm not worried. I've dealt with worse from the actual government, in person, and this doesn't scare me.

That said, you're probably right. I'm going to sit here and wait for McCain's aides to push me around for him. I had a modicum respect for him as a candidate until that "oh he had an inappropriate relationship with a lobbyist" crap came out... I mean, Cindy should be enough for him, right?

(backs out of thread and waits for head to explode)

I didn't know you could vote for a fictional elephant. But there you have it.

Eeesh... I called it and it died.

All I said was that Obama would return our country to the constitutional values upon which it was founded.
posted by Baby_Balrog at 5:43 PM on November 3, 2008

I am entertaining myself by listening to the McCain supporters. They seem to be divided into those that I really think are prank calls, and those that I really hope are prank calls.

Obama would return our country to the constitutional values upon which it was founded.

A third party candidate would. But not a Republicrat.

"I'm voting for McCain because ... Obama's black and I don't want Martin Luther King or Samuel L. Jackson getting in the white house and gay people having sex and killing babies. He's a nigger."

...Republicrat.

Somebody who watched this election and still thought there was no difference in the parties would probably also think vitamins were psychosomatic.

Nobody doesn't want Samuel L. Jackson in the White House!

I called and said that the people who love Obama and the people who hate him do so based on how they imagine he is, not how he really is.

At least, that's what I would have done if I had a phone and calling the States wasn't so damn pricy.

Alright, I've listened to some more, and they're not all for Barr. Carry on.

It's a shame a lot of people are poisoning the well, though. "I'm NOT VOTING FOR THIS GUY, LOLOLOL" seem to make up a good number of calls. I'm surprised I haven't gotten rickrolled yet, though.

I'm voting for John McCain because Obama is going to abort my babies and then give the fetuses to terrorist Arabs...

Damn, that IS a good reason to vote McCain.
