There he was with his immigration face giving me a paper chase

Remember Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement Julie Myers , the immigration chief who had some controversy during her tenure and introduced “operation scheduled departure” where illegal immigrants would turn themselves in and who’s organization was refered to (in so many words) as the gestapo by (Dem) Illinois Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez? Yeah, she resigned.

Speculation abounds as to why.

Bye-bye, Bush political hacks!

Don't let the (fucking) door hit you in the ass on the morning of January 20, 2009.

Jesus Christ. I could have done without the ranting in the comments section of Rolling Stone. Does nobody moderate their comments section? Can't Matt, et al, offer their services?

It's like the moment you do anything political online, Morlocks emerge from caves and start drooling over keyboards, pecking at them with simian paws and typing in the only thirteen English words they know, which happen to be about how much they hate Obama.

Bye bye social conservatives. Good riddance biatch!!! Palin's probably going to go for the Senate in 2010. Michele Bachmann won another term in MN. Those are the two that stick out for me. I don't mind a fiscal conservative, but the far-right nuts have to go.

Can the software that generates their vocal emissions and (pseudo)animates their faces control BOTH Palin and Bachmann at the same time?

Are we going to have one of these any time someone from the Bush administration resigns? 'Cause that's going to be a lot of posts in the next two months...

We should do a blanket post when we get the blanket pardon.

Cut to the chase: she's the likely law-breaking leaker of the news of Obama's aunt in Boston. She was willing to break the law to influence the election. Typical Bush official.

Though predictably, it was an incredibly stupid and desperate attempt at a hail mary november surprise. And nobody gave a shit. As a number of people have said, the one thing to be thankful for is that the Bush administration is corrupt and incompetent even at being corrupt and incompetent.

But just because Myers has quit doesn't mean she didn't break the law and shouldn't be prosecuted. We've got to go after some of these people with criminal charges, really.

Let's only do it when someone resigns in the wake of breaking the law in order to make Obama look bad, That should reduce the amount of posts by, let's see ... (counts on fingers) ...

Maybe three.

Ha Ha! Blackface and a prison uniform! How quaint.

We should do a blanket post when we get the blanket pardon.

Not a blanket party?

I so agree. Will anyone who commits a crime in the US government EVER do more than 5 years in prison? Rappers got it all wrong. They should go into politics. Legislate.

I think this falls under the list of things various news outlets and senate investigation committee heads are going to start hearing about on 1/20/09.

I can't find the link to it, but there was a Dem Senator who had said he already heard from people inside the administration who said they would be calling with evidence and "dirt" on various Bush Admin scandals on January 20th.

I think once a lot of folks who were working under Bush will find themselves out of work, with no place local to find anyone willing to pick them up, unable to sell their houses for a profit, who may cash in on whatever secrets or evidence the have. I think their belief in their party has shattered, and like rats abandoned a sinking ship, they will try anything to keep their heads above water.

Joe Lieberman is also threatening not to support Dems unless he gets to retain his chairmanships.

Lieberman really shit in his hat. He might be the only Senator with worse judgment than John McCain.

I'm wondering on just what planet anyone things that Lieberman has any leverage. His only hope is that Stevens loses *and* Fraken wins in the recount -- then he becomes the Magical 60th vote in a filibuster.

The correct answer to him is this: "My offer is this: Nothing."

Someone proposed nominating Arlen Specter (or someone like him) to a cabinet position and having Governor Rendell (D) appoint a Senate replacement.

The general theory is, "if you have to accept a Republican, why not pick one you like?"

That is, if the Dems get to 59 seats in the Senate.

mrzarquon - are you thinking of the journalist seymour hersh? "'You cannot believe how many people have told me to call them on 20 January,' he says, with relish. '"You wanna know about abuses and violations? Call me then.'"

That's missing the point, I think. It's not about what leverage Lieberman has, it's about what leverage Reid can have over Lieberman.

That sucks. Lieberman reminds me of a modern day Wormwood. 59 seats is all you need. That leaves 40 people you can try and persuade before you would have to try Lieberman. The GOP's out of focus right now. They can be easily turned (laughs deviously)!

if she learned in her capacity as a federal official of obama's aunts status and leaked that information to the media resignation may not be the last we heard of her. at least I'd hope they didn't cut her a sweetheart deal, which certainly is a possibility.

he official flagshot is scarier than cheneys, btw. I wonder if she just doesn't have a way with photos or actively tried to look badass, with comical results.

Yeah, Lieberman is worthless at 57, 58, 59, or 60 seats. If the Democrats can't bribe and/or muscle a couple of moderate Republicans into voting for cloture between a landslide Obama victory and all the resources of a massive majority in both Houses, then there's something wrong with them. Between Biden and Emanuel, Obama's going to have some real pros to shepherd his legislation through.

You cannot trust a traitor. Lieberman has to go. No calculus compensates for treachery.

He's a bad man. And a fool. Let him join the GOP. He'll be in in good company. Appoint Arlen Specter as Secretary of Scottish Law or something and Rendell will give us our 60th dem, no problem. And once Palin is defeated in the Alaska senate race to replace Stevens, we're all good.

And in 4 years, Traitor Joe will be gone.
