Your favorite typeface rocks.

I'm sorry, but how can you have a discussion of rock-n-roll typefaces without discussing heavy metal? Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath. If you want a typeface that shouts ROCK!!!, then you should be cribbing it from one of their albums. And let's forget that we have heavy metal to thank for giving the ümlaüt its proper due.

I thought the same thing jonp72.

I know this particular genre of videos are proliferating like horny bunnies, but I still enjoy watching the "typeface" videos.

This isn't really a discussion of rock-n-roll typefaces, though, it's a collection of (very cool) videos doing neat things with typography. Now, I'm not denying that someone should do a Sabbath song using Sabbath typefaces, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to get up in arms about something that is orthogonal to the actual FPP.

I'm sorry but these advertisements are so condescending. It's obvious that the ad execs responsible have no clue about why I choose to wear my baby.

Oh, wrong thread. I saw slow-panning, animated text and thought I was in the thread about twitter moms who were Björn to be riled by Motrin ads.

(sorry that was the best babywearing/rock'n'roll/umlaut pun I could come up with.)

I'm more up in arms about this: ¨How upsetting is it ¨that you ¨can't put an umlaut over a consonant? Freedom from the ¨tÿ¨rä¨n¨t¨s!!!

It's been done much better by Moby & Mylene Farmer.

Can't find it online but Prince Sign of the Times was a great video for this I think. All in Times, obviously.

Can't say I ever really thought of Helvetica as a rock typeface, but what the hell. Just don't say Arial is one or I'll have to come down there and kick some ass.

One of my favorite examples.

Also mentioned previously somewhere, but apropos here, Softlights and Vote For Hope.

Rock Band's typography reinvented Herb Lubalin's Avant Garde for me as a lean, rockin' typeface, and shed it's dated 70's pop music history.

I have to say though, that last video was over for me when "throoooooooooooouuuuuuugggghhh" came on the screen. Uggh.

I went and found the Mountain Goats' Sax Rohmer #1, in order to include it, but Casuistry had the same good taste, but a quicker posting finger.

I don't know why, but this made me suddenly start thinking about a fictional band called Pants Sans.
