Neil Gaiman also had some very kind things to say about Mr. Adams.

I'm beside myself. D.A. was the froodiest. A re-read of H2G2 always picks me up when I'm down. Now there will never be a 6th episode in the famous trilogy.
*sniff*

Firstly I am a huge fan. I devoured DNA's work in all media.

I am deeply upset at his passing.

I don't want this to descend into the "is he great or isn't he" debate of the previous thread on this sad news, but whether people liked the style of his work or not, its worth considering that the man who wrote this lament is the professor of the public understanding of science at Oxford.

Therein, for me, lies the fundamental aspect of DNA's work.

He helped non-scientists understand a great deal of deep mathematics and physics.

And then laugh about it.

Thank you DNA

Here's an old piece DNA wrote about the internet.

Now the world has gone to bed,
Darkness won't engulf my head,
I can see by infrared,
How I hate the night.

I named one of my research robots after doug for this. Not gonna do any infrared work today.

the two rules i live by are 1-Be Nice, and 2:

Don't Panic.

Good advice for any day...time to read the trilogy again.

*sigh* & *damn*

[thanks for the marvin poem DiplomaticImmunity]

I was loaned the H2G2 in high school by a boy who later become my first boyfriend. I always swore that if I got to teach high school english I would assign H2G2 instead of Watership Down or Yellow Raft in Blue Water.
