At one point last year, there was an eBay auction titled "not what I thought it was." No other information was listed, except that it was in the lamps category and had a starting bid of seven dollars. Nobody bid on it. Truly a mystery for the ages. I should have placed a bid, just to find out what it was.

Noplace else to put this: FOX had one of the most clueless reports citing the internet in many a day when a reporter stated that video of the upcoming McVeigh execution (before the FBI files delayed it) was "being sought by the internet site Ebay to sell to its millions of users". Probably she was told that federal prison officials would be monitoring Ebay to see if any of its millions of users tried to auction the video, assuming they would successfully pirate it, so that they could notify Ebay to shut it down and identify the culprits -- but this gal seemed to think it was some kind of monolithic entity with no scruples whatsoever.

Sorry, nyukid, Disturbing Auctions pre-dates Who Would Buy That by more than a year. Indeed it did. We started WWBT because DA had stopped updating ... and a few days before we launched, they started their reader-submission pages. D'oh! Ah well. There's plenty of trash out there for us all to make fun of! :-)
