AFP pays tribute to the International Festival of Photojournalism.
Check out the portfolios of photographers such as Olivier Laban-Mattei or Lionel Healling... or... or any of the others here all with captioned slide show.

I was talking with a photojournalist about what it is like to be freelance these days. I was told the last major publication (a world-wide news periodical) that recently bought from this person paid this person $120.00 per photo for three photos. These were photos from a war zone. I mean, damn!

Would be nice if they let me look at a photo and read its caption and then decide when to look at the next photo, instead of unilaterally deciding that four seconds is the optimal time for doing so.

It would also be nice if they didn't inexplicably decide to play one bar of some random music on an infinite loop.

Many, too many men and boys with guns. Off to the dandelion patch to listen to Buffy Sainte-Marie singing her "Universal Soldier".
