Self Loathing.

Sentences were delivered yesterday in Israel's Neo-Nazi trial of the 8 members of "Patrol 36" who were active in and around Petah Tikvah.

Actual uploaded video available here. Only the first one seems to work.

Fuck. I didn't even notice that.

Ha, he's got a Skrewdriver tattoo. Sad. They're one crap band. Racists always make the most boring, unlistenable music.

The strange thing about trying to maintain things like a "democratic Jewish state" is you end up with officials talking about revoking citizenship of people because they were involved in hate crimes. Even though they were brought in just to counter the Arab citizens who're quite likely to be exerting more influence in the democratic process. Not to mention that a lot of Jewish immigrants are even 'less westernized' than your average Israeli citizen. Tricky balancing.

They should know better than to park at the ATM with their "I Love Bagels" bumper sticker.

I'll bet Neo-Nazis in Israeli jails are as popular as pedophiles.

Israeli neo-Nazis meet with Black slave owners to discuss same-sex marriage for Mormons.

Just another headline I'll never see.

Maybe they aren't anti-Judaism. Maybe they're pro-Buddhism.

"Damn it, Hitler! Why does your symbol of hatred have to be so hard to remember? By the time I look at my left hand making an "L" shape, and back up to the church pew, I've already forgotten which direction I should paint. Why couldn't you have just used a sad face!"

If only their defense team had thought of that.

This is more common than you think.

Wait. Did I type "more"? I meant "less."

Wait -- I saw this. On TV. In 1977.

It's a sad commentary on the lack of creativity displayed by today's youth that their desperation for rebellious ideas leads them to recycle plots from old episodes of Lou Grant. Special Guest Star: Brian Dennehy

It is amazing the price some people think low to never be seen as possibly weak ever again.

Daesin - (C) Emigrate to Israel is a bit of a head scratcher as well.

But their links to Judaism are slender, with most qualifying for citizenship through grandparents or distant family connections.

Is it self loathing when the 'neo-nazis' don't self-identify as Jewish? Not through denial, but through simply lacking any personal connection. The dissonance here isn't the violent antisemitism of a few Russian emigres, bur rather the state of Israel claiming them as their own.

Could notoriety have been a motivation? I mean, it's pretty hard to make it as an anti-Semitic neo-Nazi in the FSU with so much competition, whereas in Israel it would be easy to stand out.

These people seem to be part of the massive Russian migration which brought in as many as 1m people, with as many as 20% of those not actually Jewish (forged documents, pretend grandparents, long-lost ties to anything resembling Judaism, etc) I can actually see how that would make a youth bitter if they are searching for identity in a Jewish state when they themselves do not believe they are Jewish.

Also, as Krrlson says, what better way to get attention for being a bastard? That's not unique to any country's under-employed youth.

yeah, i saw a segment on these guys on a foreign affairs doco show last week. apart from the fact that they are obviously sad twats*, that was the thing: they migrated with their families to Israel on the strength of maybe one Jewish grandparent. they were painted as Russians & Ukrainians etc with about zero Jewish self-identity. and then they were dissed by the locals as "stinky Russians". so, they sound pretty much like neo-Nazis anywhere: disenfranchised, marginalised losers.

* their hate crimes consisted mostly of beating up on solo homeless people, junkies & the like, and videoing the attacks for YouTube. so, they're great big fucking cowards, to boot. and that's apart from the fact that they apparently weren't specifically anti-semitic, attacking Palestinians as well. basically, anybody too weak & defenceless to fight back.

Presumably their parents were the ones who chose to emigrate. I'd imagine these ones were quite young at the time. If they emigrated in the 90s, the oldest would only have been about 13.

Harlan Ellison already wrote this story. He called it A Prayer For No One's Enemy. I wish I could find it online and link ya up - Ellison's eyeballs would explode with rage if I could, though. It's a real corker.

“it is difficult not to be staggered to the point of coma trying to comprehend the level of cognitive dissonance these morons must be suppressing.”

Indeed. Sometimes when I’m covering myself in peanut butter and masterbating with my grandmother’s panties on a t.v. antenna while wearing a spiderman costume watching “I Love Lucy” backwards in Turkish, I thank God there are people in the world crazier than I am.

"Rammstein" - the name of a German black metal band frequently associated with neo-Nazi punk youth - was written on the floor alongside a satanic symbol.

Wait, what? Uh, no. More like "frequently associated with high school dances and bowling alley jukeboxes". I can forgive them for not knowing what black metal is or what kind of music Rammstein actually plays, but really, come on now.

Maybe they're worshiping Thor.

There's a building in Reykjavík that everytime I looked at it, I swore it was a swastika. No dice. It was merely a rune ("fylfot" middle of page).
