Portraiture of the living dead. [some NSFW; via Bygone Bureau]

The zombies are drawn by Frederik Peeters.

Peeters makes bandes dessinées, equivalent to comics/graphic novels. This Swiss artist has published Pilules Bleues (Blue Pills), a quasi-autobiographical story of a couple falling in love and the HIV that changes their lives; Lupus, where a twenty-something goes on an intergalactic fishing trip; Koma, in which a girl explores hidden worlds under the chimneys her father cleans; RG, based on Pierre Dragon's crime fighting experience; and Ruminations, a collection of 20 short stories.

Official bibliography.

My French is rusty and I might have made some mistakes, but the artwork is fascinating. Also, since some sites are in French, I was conflicted between the original links or translated pages—I went with the translated.

I was expecting a picture of Dick Cheney as a gag at the end.

I'm way too fragile for this right now - will check it out more in the light of day.

Awesome. I've been going through Julia Kristeva's commentary on Celine, in Powers of Horror, all day, and then I distract myself with a little metafilter, and what do i find? Zombie Celine.

Awesome, simply awesome. Thanks for the link.

Oh, and gwint is absolutely right about Golda Meir.

He certainly covered a wide range of people. I've had to look several up, and all have been fascinating.

I think it's in kinda poor taste.

Well, at least the Brandon Lee's makeup is appropriate. Now he can throw out some pithy one-liners, beat up the rest of these damn zombies before having the inevitable final showdown with his dad.

I figure that from their point of view, it will look like two martial arts masters, at the top of their game, working at the bleeding edge of the best of their abilities to crushingly defeat their opponent.

From our perspective it would just be two shambling undead clumsily crashing into one another.

I'm a bit confused by Diana Spencer -- her car crash didn't f up her face, if the pap photos can be believed. And I think Freddie Mercury would be much thinner.

Yep: they forgot the emergency thoracotomy. Same with Aaliyah - the p.m. reported severe burns and a blow to the head - unless it's an allusion to Akasha's death by neck bite in Queen of the Damned.

I got a kick out of John Bonham having puke all over him. I don't think that says good things about me.

Weird...your Barbara Cartland link redirects to here.
posted by The Light Fantastic at 4:41 PM on December 11, 2008

That is odd. The page is here (assuming that doesn't redirect too). Browsing the direct URL (http://www.zam.it/images/4035/1.jpg) and embedding it as a link in a test page work fine: it's just the MetaFilter link that redirects.

Ok, that link worked.....UGH!!! Yeah - way, way, way scarier than a zombie!
