Well, I give a thumbs up to this post. I can see what seems like an awesome, deep game that I missed without having to play it! Maybe links to other games on the lparchive would have been nice, but I don't see anything else particularly compelling there.

The chapter two video has a subtitle that says something like "Slayers will keep spawning here. We have to kill each one to hear the next bit of dialogue." Sounds like great gameplay!

As far as playthroughs go I much prefer the ones from The Spoony Experiment; the riffed Let's Play Phantasmagoria 2 is just great and should be watched by everyone who is a fan of MST3K-style snarky commentary. Oh, and check out the DragonStrike video. It's seriously good stuff."Now let's get out of here, it's time we leaf".

I appreciated the artistic license taken with Master of Orion 2: We destroyed our creators. Our hatred subsided. We assimilated our world, The Core, our networks coursing through the entirety of the planet. Using all the resources available to us, we computed and calculated one important question: Were we happy? Do we love each other, my brothers? With our current capabilities, we can not answer the question within the lifespan of this star. ...as well as Tie Fighter: Tie Fighter was awesome, and I think everyone should have a chance to play it. So here it is! I have the disc with me right here. Unfortunately, I don't have a joystick, so I'm going to reconstruct the game from memory... Moreover, I'd recommend reading through the Allied Microcomputer port of Harlan Ellison story I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream: Although he is not a fan of computer games and did not own a personal computer at the time, he co-authored the expanded storyline and wrote much of the game's dialogue, all on a mechanical typewriter. Ellison also voiced the supercomputer "AM" and provided artwork of himself used for a mousepad included with the game.

As far as playthroughs go I much prefer the ones from The Spoony Experiment The videos looked interesting, unfortunately he uses one of those shitty, useless Brand X flash video sites that make the videos look awful and stutter every 2 seconds. Why do people do that? Just to be outre? Just goddamn use YouTube already. Fortunately, he also has a YouTube channel where the videos actually work. The reviews of the Sega CD "Make My Video" series (some of the most mindbendingly awful "games" ever created) are hilarious.

In most cases, the player is presented with three options: help the person (good), kill them (evil), or remain indifferent to their plight (neutral). Sounds like some extremely deep gameplay there. /sarcasm. How about moving beyond 1st grade morality? That's what I'd like to see. Yes, I'm also looking at you, Bioshock.

How about moving beyond 1st grade morality? I've played through The Suffering a couple of times, and there is at least one instance where the good option is to kill someone, because they're in terrible pain ... so it's 2nd-grade morality at least.

Many of those monsters are strongly reminiscent of the zombies in Left 4 Dead. Like the Fester seems rather similar to the Boomer, and the witches are kinda similar. They're different enough that I'm sure that Valve didn't rip them off. Basically what I'm trying to say here is I wore a grey hoodie to work and one of my friends almost punched me because he thought I was a Hunter.

Thanks for introducing me to that site...I can finally "finish" Psychonauts (couldn't get past Meat Circus) Meat circus is probably the hardest level of that game, it took me probably 10 times to finally finish it. Also check out the Lets Play master list, although I think it might be the same thing as the lparchive.
