Fondant cakes are so pretty; I really wish fondant wasn't so vile so I could make some.

I would think similar results should be possible with marzipan, which actually tastes good. Why does nobody do that?

There's a reason that fondant wedding cakes sit so, so, so long in the bakery window all pretty and such. I suppose it has something to do with fondant being the culinary equivalent of masonry cement.
