Play Trivia to Help Save Abandoned Animals. Free Rice set the standard for on-line charity games and Free Poverty soon followed by donating water. Now you can play for free kibble to be donated to either Rocket Dog Rescue or The Urban Cat Project.

Set the standard for tricking people into playing casual games while turning a healthy profit for the owner is more like it.

Admittedly, the trivia questions they are using have some problems. For one thing, they are mostly from 20 and 30 years ago (What Ivy League School does Jody Foster attend?) I stopped playing the "General" category because it was mostly questions about old non-fiction books I had never heard of, so I switched over to "Entertainment," which is questions about the Academy Awards followed by questions about hit songs from the '60s and 70's. Still, it feels good to see the kibble bowl fill up-- and if you get 5 correct answers in a row, you get bonus kibble!

I can't vouch for the other sites, but Free Rice is very effective; as of Nov.08, this website begun by John Breen has donated 50 billion grains of rice.

As far as I know, Free Rice does exactly what it claims to do. As for Free Poverty, here is the information from their FAQ:

WHO DOES FREEPOVERTY DONATE TO?
Due to some unforeseen issues with the organization we previously donated our revenues to, so they could donate water on our behalf (read more about it here), we are now looking for a decent non-profit organization to collaborate with FreePoverty and its users.

Doesn't seem like the donations are going anywhere at the moment.

I always expected that I would be rescued by a rocket dog, not rescuing one.

If they care about the animals so much, they should just donate the kibble without making people play an online trivia game.

Yay for these organisations, and boo to people who abandon animals and don't get them desexed. There's a special circle of hell reserved for people like that, where they get a wet dick in their ear - FOREVER.

Dunkadunc, they generally are making the money to give to the charities from advertising on their game pages. So without playing the game, there's no money to give.

What was the series in the 1903 Stanley Cup Finals when New Jersey Devils won?

Big "Thank You!" to the helpful person who decided to that the full year should be used in this question to avoid confusion. This is much better.
