Punking Google Street View

On May 3rd 2008, artists Robin Hewlett and Ben Kinsley got a tip that the Google Inc. Street View team would be visiting Pittsburgh’s Northside and they asked residents to help collaborate on a series The result is Street With A View, which "introduces fiction, both subtle and spectacular, into the doppelganger world of Google Street View." It's an odd, wonderful assortment of constructed mis-en-scènes that a group of Pittsburgh residents brought to GSV. The project page details individual scenes (with links, of course, to Google), and has some short "making-of" videos.

Dammit. He linked without the "www", so it didn't show up in search :(.

This is the most wonderful thing ever. Except for the doublepost part.

These... aren't all that imaginative. We set up a moving van and pieces of furniture, but - get this - no one was actually moving! If you think that's wacky, we got some musicians and - get a load of this one - had them play in a garage and pretend to be a garage band! Stop me if the wackiness gets to be too much for you!
