Snow day at the zoo. Even the baby elephant has fun. Seals, tigers, wolf, elephants. Teh cute starts at 2:36. Samudra, the baby Asian elephant, playing in the water and in the snow.
I've wondered what zoos do with their open-air animals if it snows. I would've figured a lot of the ones from warmer climates would be horribly cold. But I guess they do OK, huh? posted by schroedinger at 12:05 PM on December 26, 2008

They usually do, but unfortunately not always. It means that when they screw up, it's serious.
Also, I just came back from a walk up the Puerto Vallarta zoo, so wonderful timing! posted by Lemurrhea at 12:31 PM on December 26, 2008
Never has a big scary maneating tiger looked so cute. it was slip sliding in the snow! Aw! posted by flipyourwig at 12:42 PM on December 26, 2008
Live stream of mommy jaguar playing with cub (nothing to do with snow, but it's CUTE)
Well, it has something to do with a zoo, so it is related and it's seriously cute. aww. posted by nickyskye at 1:03 PM on December 26, 2008
...awww, too cute, nickyskye ...
This clip is just a domestic doggie frolicking in the snow, but you have to love the sheer exuberance of it, what a great dog! posted by madamjujujive at 1:19 PM on December 26, 2008 [2 favorites]

Kind of funny how my snow instincts go exactly along with that baby elephant's. Eat it, throw it, roll around in it for a while, then rinse and repeat. posted by six-or-six-thirty at 2:40 PM on December 26, 2008
So here's the deal: the sweet baby phelephant did not make me choke up with the power of its cuteness. I don't care what anyone may have thought that they saw or heard or whatever, it was totally a misunderstanding. There was dust in the air and I was sniffing onions and peppers as a test for some kind of thing.
Seriously, anyone claims they witnessed any kind of emotion in me watching the baby take its trunk and splash the snow over its head is totally and grievously mistaken.
I am a cold, hard hearted bastard. I love nothing.
Especially not lil' baby 'phants dancing round in the snow.
homunculus, on behalf of Hannah and her skunk, I tried contacting the Scottish Labour Party with the following message. Perhaps you or a Brit could contact them?
"Please try and help save Hannah and her pet skunk, Ichi from eviction.
Back in May I posted a story about Hannah Chapman and her battle with Aberdeen City Council in order to be able to keep her beloved de-scented skunk, Ichi.
Initially the council said Ichi had to go, then they said she could stay. Later they discovered Hannah also had a cat and two animals aren't allowed, although many Aberdeen council tenants have two pets.
Then on December 22 Hannah received a hand-delivered letter informing her that unless she got rid of both of her pets by January 23 the council will begin eviction proceedings."
--------------------
Please have compassion and forbearance, let Hannah Chapman, her de-scented skunk and little dog live in peace together where she is living now.
PS, dear Claudia Beamish, perhaps you don't remember me but you and I went to school together in the mid-1970's. I so hope you're well in every way. Much love and good holiday wishes, Victoria
But the form page would not accept my request, in spite of using an Aberdeen postcode. Very frustrating. I was hoping my old classmate might help. posted by nickyskye at 10:49 AM on December 27, 2008
