If you're an American undergoing gas trouble, you only have one choice--become a hypermiler.

Too late.

One would almost think you've been in the hospital for the past six months or so; gas prices have fallen by 1/2 since these articles appeared.

When I have gas trouble, I use Pepto Bismol. ;)

That crashing sound was the entire Internet sprinting for this thread to make a fart joke.

I feel obliged, in these few quiet moments before deletion, to note that that second link is from the CBC and describes choices made by Canadians, who are not Americans, with or without six-month-old "gas trouble."

Sorry, hadjiboy, I know you're far away from here and I don't mean to pile on, exactly. But this is like posting a story about consumer behaviour in Dhaka to describe social trends in India.

Fuelly (mathowie's project) is a well done site. The mobile version is easy to use, and I can punch in my numbers at the pump (inside the car of course).

Fuelly does not actually save any money, though. A penny tracked is maybe .05-.1 penny earned. (Also, Fuelly could use a way to add a fuel up directly to a vehicle without having to navigate and add or add and then choose. Or at least let me re-order the dropdown, because the car I fill up more often is the one I added last, so it's never the default.)

Canadians, who are not Americans

Really? There's a bunch of North and South Americans who might disagree.

Fuelly is my copilot.

Draft that semi. We got ourselves a convoy!

I was paying $4.50/gallon for gas this summer at the station nearby in my city neighborhood. Today -- $1.65/gallon.

While I admit it's all tin-foil hattery, I can't help but think that Bush, Cheney and their energy buddies were lining their pockets before the current administration was heading out of office. Exxon-Standard continued to have record-breaking profits up-to-the end of last year.
