Judging by the cat's licking of the guy's beard when he picked it up, I think the cats motivations were clearly two-fold;

1) Try and eat the rat or mouse that was all the way up there on the humans face.
2) Gain international TV exposure to kick off plans for world domination in the process.

Katze = cat. For your further info, had he been saying 'Kater', it would have implied it was a male cat.

"What? What are we looking at? Huh. I stare at nothing for a long time too and no one pays me for it."

<small> does anyone remember a PBS pet-advice show hosted by a vet who had about a billion animals just running around all over each other and on top of him while he gave advice like he was a pasty Beastmaster or something? </small>

Effigy2000: Yeah, I know that. (Or, at least I know "katze" is "cat".) I was just wondering about his parting message, it seems to me that he breaks away from the script and says a few words about the cat. My german is very bad, so I could be wrong, though.

When the cat first entered the scene and only the tip of its tail was visible, that was the best part. After that, a shark fin should've appeared at the bottom of the screen, slowly gliding by. Moments later, the map of eastern Germany should've fallen down to reveal a charging herd of elephants, which would, of course, trample the weatherman (which is too bad, cause he seemed a likable sort) and, just after that, the cameraman. The clip would end with the now fallen and unmanned camera pointed toward the ceiling, and one final appearance of the cat, staring curiously into the lens of the camera. A final "meaow" would end the clip.

It's difficult to articulate why this is so soothing. Something about the way he scoops the cat up and lets it nuzzle him while he explains what the weather is going to be makes me feel like there couldn't possibly be anything bad in the world. There's nothing stagey about it - he doesn't make a great show of fussing over the cat, just absently strokes its neck as he proceeds with the forecast. I've just watched it through twice, and I haven't felt this happy since I had my last co-codamol.

<em>I want to feel smug and superior about the weatherman's jump-on-a-chair hysterics but I'm no better
</em>
I once saw a roach - a small one - skitter across the floor of my bedroom. Not only did I scream a like a girl, I smashed it with the heel of my dress loafers (the nearest hard object to hand) over and over again until it was liquid - the way people in scary movies will repeatedly stab something after it's dead until their arm gets tired. And I was fully clothed at the time.

It's not us. It's the roaches.

<em>hissy fir</em>

Ah, the venerable hissy fir. This once-noble tree, native to the Appalachians, now long logged into extinction to make that very particular type of supremely irritating paper used to "seal in the freshness" on plastic tubs of butter, and also the price stickers on books, which never come off quite right, and they always tear away improperly, taking square inches of the beautifully designed cover of your pristine copy of <i>The Stars My Destination</i> or, fuck, now I've got to get this off, because it just looks wrong, what a pain in the-...great, now I've got butter all over my fingers.
Okay, to be fair, some palmetto bugs in florida and georgia have wings. several years ago I was cleaning an upstairs litterbox when I saw a roach. So, I grabbed a piece of newspaper to pick it up and flush it down the toilet when it FLEW UP AT ME.

I ran screaming down the stairs until I could calm down.

In the war between humans and roaches, the roaches with wings will win.

Blah blah blah...more weathery stuff...looking good for winter lovers...

"Our studio cat is also right here, without permission...One moment, I'll hold her anyway. Can you still hear me? Okay, yes, the microphone isn't being blocked."

Okay, I'll admit I'm jealous.

You posted a Videogum post about where a cat walks in and basically nothing happens, and you got 64 comments. (now 65!) I posted a Videogum MLYT with some of the most nightmarishly amateurish music videos I've ever seen (the one right below this) and I only get 7. WTF?

I know, I should really readjust my priorities in life. I just wanted to be really shallow for just a moment.

No, I understand how you feel, I'm pretty sure if I had posted it i would have gotten about 7 comments as well, and if there are more they would mostly be criticisms about the post. I feel yah.

After watching Marc's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZS0diVzjxg">other videos</a> I am now convinced that God is a slightly distracted, slightly fey man trying to keep the puppies from hitting the floor, turtles from biting tongues, and kittens from tormenting the lizards.

"whoops! crash."

I flagged your post because the Katt Productions tag made me think there was going to be cats in it, and there was only some no-necked dude who used Tom Waits' smooth voice.

Surprised no-one else has mentioned this, but when he picks up the studio-cat there's a hidden cat face secretly placed on the weather map!

Seriously, look at it again. There's two blobs of high pressure making the cat's eyes, a little red patch making the kitty nose and an isobar making the whiskers. How freaky is that?

This is very pleasing. The weatherman clearly knows and likes cats. The cat seems to know this, and has determined it is time for affection. The cat is all in his face because he is talking for no apparent reason, and not to the cat. He's nice to the cat and continues his broadcast.

How many others would simply stop and demand the cat be removed?

As for the guy with the roach: ROFLMAO!
