Yes, it is that time of year again. When the ski's are filled with "Patang" and you have to do your best to keep yours up.

I was fully expecting a skiing game where I had to pull back on my mouse to keep my ski tips up, lest they get caught in the snow and whatnot... *patang* is the noise that happens when your ski tips don't cooperate.

ooh, nice to see you on the blue again hadjiboy! Interesting the India fighter kites are different in construction than the ones my dad taught me. And Indian/Afghani kites move differently than the kites in the West, which usually have long tails. Check out this old, very tanned guy, who is brilliant in controlling his kites. Boy, can he keep it up! ;-)

That's Vanier Park in Vancouver, Nicky--a great place to fly kites. There's a kite festival there, too.

Nice post, hadjiboy. Kites are awesome. Ray' Bethell is a fond Vancouver institution, Nicky. A quarter-century, or so, he's been down there pretty much every day, I guess; spring through fall. A genuinely nice man, he loves to let kids try their hand, and many a Vancouver kite enthusiast was first introduced to the zen of kiting by Ray. Now he's showing their kids his skills. Along with a visit with Kent Avery, the rock-balancing guy at Second Beach, seeing Ray work his magic is pretty much a required stop when taking out-of-towners for a bike ride around the Vancouver waterfront.

Haha, you got me good there huh? Should've been sky's I guess. Oh well, you make a mistake and you remember I guess, or I hope at least. nicky, glad to see you too! I was very into flying kite's when I was a kid, up on the terrace no matter how hot the weather is with my Patang and my Manja. But you know, I never realized it was such a grown up game... of course, we did have our uncle's and cousin's come up and join us, but we never thought that the others were so fortunate too. Looks like they were! Hey PareidoliaticBoy, thanks for telling me about Ray' Bethell; there's one guy I have to meet if I ever make it to Vancouver, along with Kent Avery it seems.
