I have fallen in love with the Nerdbots. Under their cold, hard exteriors, they're really quite loveable.

Cool. A friend of mine did something similar a while back, making robots out of junk electronics.

Bah, these are no more robots than a MacDonalds toy is a Transformer.

Right you are, sammyo. These are NERDBOTS.

Also, if it's the fast food chain you're referring to, note there is no "a" in McDonald's.

This reminded me immediately of one of my flickr contacts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lockwasher/ Predictably, Nerdbots is one of his contacts. Cool work all around though!

This reminded me immediately...

Hey, thanks for that link, blaneyphoto. Lockwasher's stuff is great!

Cutler Hammer reminds me of the robot (aka "Cooker" - at the bottom of the pic there...) that Wallace and Gromit find on the moon during "A Grand Day Out."

Too bad they're so pricey... they are quite cute.

wow. These are so beautiful! Wonderfully made. And really as sculptures they are quite affordable. Excellent find flapjax.

Hey folks, also just came across this: Lipson Robotics.

nickyskye: 4:55 jinx! And I agree, for one-of-a-kind sculpture creations, I think these are very reasonably priced.

This is so cool. Every one is unique right now. I wonder if they will ever mass produce the nerdbots.

Dalebert enjoys playing air guitar, using his Secret Agent Spy Kit and listening to NPR. He’s had perfect attendance at all of his geometry club meetings and wants to run for treasurer next year. He’s wound a bit tightly, and therefore is perpetually excited about everything.
Dimensions: 28” (H) x 17” (W)
$200.00
For $200, Dalebert better be able to [SELF-EDITING MODE: ON]!! And do it goooood.

I really like the lockwasher stuff.

Man, I've got a ton of crap sitting in my basement. Maybe I should build my own robot army! Now where's my mighty putty?

$200?!? The bloom is off the rose.

They remind me of the previous found-stuff "robots", though more emphasis on "found".

Yeah, DU, I'd suggest sticking with mass produced items. They're often cheaper, for some strange reason, than one-of-a-kind, handmade creations.
