By its very description, it was obvious that this video was going to be aggressively silly. And it was, but the selection of Who clips was frequently inspired and the assembly showed more craft than most webvideo montages. It still ran too long, but then, I've never watched or listened to anything with Mister M&Ms that didn't. But if a visitor from another planet ever asks me what a "mashup" is, I'll point it to that video.

My only exposure to him was when the bus drivers had him on the radio and posters on record store windows. For the longest time I was certain that Weird Al had built a persistent character, a stupid white rapper, one good for more than a single song. Like what happened later with Ali G and Borat. I'm not enough of a fan to really evangelize for him, but his first two records were excellent and for anyone who knows hip hop and isn't biased against including anyone too "mainstream", he's likely to be on a lot of people's top-10-MCs-of-all-time lists. He's an extremely skilled MC (watch the YouTube videos of his '97 Rap Olympics appearance if you doubt it), and I've found it's mostly people who haven't even listened to his music or even rap music in general who put him down. Often it's simply because he's white, which of course means he must be some kind of poseur.

Astonishingly well crafted. Probably the best done mashup of all times, ever. Can you imagine the amount of time it took to collect and select all those Who clips, and edit them like that? Adding Eminem on top of it was a brilliant masterstroke. Yeah it was too long, but the guy who put it together had a lot to show. Amazing.

I remember driving along with my dad and my siblings back in the day and Eminem came on the radio. My dad goes "Isn't there some sort of black anti-defamation league to go after this guy?" All my siblings unanimously sad "HE'S WHITE!".

Jinjo, I think you are referring to Freelance Hellraiser's "Marshall's Been Snookered." Years ago, I knew I was gonna like Eminem when I worked for a certain music industry weekly and the editor in chief regularly lambasted the rapper as the coming of the anti-Christ.

Was the song mashup produced separately from the video? I found the video amusing, but I'm astonished by the skill at the audio mashup. It almost sounds like Eminem is singing, even in the lines where he's just rapping. Excellent post. Now I just want to know who created the damn thing. Where are the credits? (This is not necessarily a rhetorical question. Maybe there's a link to the uploader's College-Humor account or something that I'm just overlooking.)
