The kitten getting casually scooted out of the way was the funniest! That baby was stoked, though. posted by peep at 1:38 PM on January 30, 2009
Kittens on a Roomba is the winner of 10,000 internet cute points.
Also, the cat on the roomba is doing an excellent job of not flipping the fuck out and murdering whoever else is in the room. posted by Navelgazer at 1:39 PM on January 30, 2009
What they don't tell you on the box is that riding a Roomba voids the warranty. Some lessons you learn the hard way. posted by Blazecock Pileon at 1:40 PM on January 30, 2009
They ought to come out with a version of the Roomba that doesn't vacuuum, just runs around on the floor. You'd get all the cat/baby/kittens action without having to empty it. posted by tommasz at 1:40 PM on January 30, 2009

Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking kittens on this motherfucking Roomba!

I love the one in the 'baby kittens' that rolls off at about the 22 second mark. I could hear the kitty voice over in my head: "Prepare to deploy, in 3... 2... 1... Bail! GO GO GO!" and then it flops onto the floor.
Excellent.
I have a Roomba and I have cats. Nothing like this has ever happened. In fact, the closest we have come is seeing the little robot vacuum cleaner act as a launch stage for placing cats into a low earth orbit.
It snuck up on her and she jumped. Really high. posted by quin at 2:02 PM on January 30, 2009 [1 favorite]
I almost went with 'baby cats'.
That would have been significantly less redundant. [/annoying pendant]
Oh, and ferrets.
Curse you, mudpuppie! Every time I start to get over my intense desire to own some ferrets, some asshole on the internet has to post another picture or video of them again, and I'm back at square one.
I miss owning ferrets. =( posted by Caduceus at 2:03 PM on January 30, 2009
It would be really cool if you saw the cats getting on. Owners dumping their cats on Roombas is not particularly interesting.
The baby, now that was cool! posted by Chuckles at 2:10 PM on January 30, 2009

This makes me wish my Roomba still worked. And that I had some kittens. posted by sevenyearlurk at 2:28 PM on January 30, 2009
Back when this house still had a Roomba, my Burmese would flop down to take a nap in front of it while it was working. Invariably he would get jostled, the Roomba would swirl and back away, Fergus would favour me with a WTF? look, then go back to sleep until the Roomba's path reached him once again. Repeat until one pissy cat left the room to sleep elsewhere.
Now if iRobot would actually pad and heat the top of those devices, there would be plenty of video of cats getting on top of them and living there until the battery ran out. posted by maudlin at 2:31 PM on January 30, 2009

I sent the cat-on-a-Roomba some time ago to my mother-in-law. Usually she responds by saying "that's cute!" or "I saw that already!" There was radio silence this time.
My husband was visiting her a few days later. "I liked the cat video your wife sent, but it didn't seem like much of a dance."
My husband (who had seen the video) was puzzled, then realized that his mother thought that the cat was supposed to be doing the Rumba. posted by potsmokinghippieoverlord at 3:21 PM on January 30, 2009 [2 favorites]

Oh YAY oxytocin fixes. I love the cat on the Roomba, quite elegantly amused, tail trailing behind. amazing composure. I wonder what it will do to the DNA of future generations of felines? Will cats learn new techno tricks? Have 15 lives?
I kept thinking of "Hands On A Hard Body" while watching those kittens. The last little guy gets to keep the Roomba! posted by orme at 5:04 PM on January 30, 2009
