I haven't followed "Joe"'s career very closely, but when he was originally introduced to us he was supposedly just a guy with no particular political philosophy or party identification, right?

That was also the advice I gave the Democrats.

If the Republican party wants to make this halfwit fictional character their standard bearer, that's fine with me. Sarah/Joe 2012!

Electric Dragon - if my predestined time was under the category "person of scorn and disdain" he can have my 15 minutes.

I'm at a loss to which of the numerous categories of velvet paintings he falls under - Sad and Scary clowns and Celebrity Cowboys could be fitting, but I haven't seen him there. Then I realized they hid him away on ebay. If you're curious, the picture is part of the flickr set.

Joe may be the face of the GOP, but Rush is its true leader.

Hey now. Ted might have some wacky ideas, but he's added a little more to the world than Joe the Plumber ever will.

I think it's good that instead of merely saying and doing retarded things that our government is now taking advice from a functional retard. I think it's a step forward.

If this is the level of competence that the Republican Party wants to hold up as the "best and brightest", there's nothing that can be said that's more damning than the fact of it.

Seriously, Republicans? Seriously?

As much as he irritates me, I have to admit, he has a very symmetrical, round head. I bet his skull would look great sitting on top of some kind of pagan offering to the fiscal gods.

Realizing that, I think we underestimate the value he could bring to this financial crisis.

The three luminaries of the republican party in the year 2009 are Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and Joe the Plumber. They have descended into farce.

How does anyone call themselves a republican anymore with a straight face? How do they not wretch and convulse when any of these morons say anything?

The republicans suffered a coup during the 2008 election cycle and no one even bothered to tell the leadership they are now irrelevant.

The election of new leadership the GOP had the other day? Theater. Rush is the brains, Sarah is the face.

Sarah/Joe 2012 is not quite as far fetched as it seems, whether that Joe be the plumber or the turncoat... er I mean Lieberman.

Wesley Denton, communications director for Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), whose office coordinates the group, said, “I think staffers were happy to have him there and hear his perspective. He’s an interesting person for staffers to hear from, and it certainly helps us get an understanding about how the stimulus debate is playing out in the country with regular folks. emphasis mine

I'm sorry, did you just say that Republican leaders were out of touch with regular folks?

But aren't the Democrats the ... ones ... out ... of ... touch?

Wait, which talking points are we using today? The ones printed on pink sheets, or the goldenrod...?

Translation: "Republican Senate staffers refused to admit that the presidential campaign that their party just finished running was hideously embarrassing and continues to come back and bite them in the ass."
