CollegeHumor, which peddles fraternity pranks and workplace stunts to an online audience of millions, is making the move to television this Sunday.

The employee-actors have come of age on the Internet, but they nevertheless value the exposure that television can offer. When Ms. Schneider posted a photo of a "College Humor Show" poster at MTV's studios in Times Square on her Tumblr blog this week, she captioned it, "By far the most exciting thing to ever happen to me." "TV is more exclusive," she said in an interview. "People have a different relationship with TV" than with online video, she said. Like "The Osbournes" and "The Hills" before it "The College Humor Show" will once again redraw the line between scripted shows and reality programs. Is reality TV anything more than a shortcut in show-making? "Scripting" is simplified to after-the-fact editing and addition of some scene narration. The characters make themselves (again, with some creative editing). Toss some crazy, generically attractive kids together and give them a general set of rules or expectations. I miss Liquid Television more and more.

Next step: Cracked list countdowns on VH1? You laugh, but I'd watch it. Cracked's loose efforts at research may be based in silliness itself, but I can't count the times that some joke list they put me together had enough facts to compel me to do more digging on a really interesting subject.

TV as a medium is becoming secondary to the internet, just another distribution channel. If you're talking about basic cable, then you are correct. This show will be no better or worse than American Idol, Lost, 5th Grader, Deal or No Deal or anything else on basic cable. This is a non-story.

CYBIKO holy crap I had one of those. It was just a bit before cell phones. It had 300 ft range for text messaging and we were thankful. Actually they allowed a lot of homebrew and had 450 apps for free by the end. Good times.

To play devil's advocate, College Humor's self-produced videos (with, you know, writers) is not that bad, it's primarily the stuff from elsewhere which is idiotic frat crap (not a huge fan of the writing either). Also, Jake and Amir is quality.

For one thing, the dice would still be on the table. For another, tits in a siteline wouldn't distract the dealers, Las Vegas people are fucking professionals. And the ever-topical Onion asks Are Reality Shows Setting Unrealistic Standards For Skanks? (not fully screened, possibly NSFW). Funny premise, excruciating execution (until the end I guess). I see in the move to video the Onion hasn't given up it's "stretch a funny premise two orders of magnitude longer then we should" technique.

Beside the fact that there are about six layers of people watching the dealers and watching the watchers and so on and so forth, but hey, it's a joke. You do have to allow for a little bit of suspention of disbelief, for instance: Two old bullshitters were out for a drive in the country when they had to take a pit stop. No one was around so they stopped on a bridge high over a creek. As they were peeing, one old coot said to the other, "Water's cold today." The other replied, "Deep too."

They made a good trailer for a fictional 'Sarah Palin goes to Washington' heartwarming comedy. There was a great line in the voiceover: "The comedy you just have to see - even in the case of incest or rape!" Was pretty amusing and rather pointed.
