Hey, I've seen that dude in the photo that LMGM linked! He hangs out in Central Park at the crazy rollerskating circle that goes on in the summer. Always with the little dog dressed as a clown and pushing a cart full of wacky stuff. Sometimes he wears a big mummu-like dress made of fake feathers. Dying your pet green is probably a pretty reliable sign of some sort of mental illness, but he really seems to love that little dog.

[*downer alert*] I thought this might be serious before clicking through. I actually saw a cat once that I am pretty sure was trying to commit suicide. It was old, blind, and fairly lame, and its owner, who lived on the top floor of our 5-story apartment building, would occasionally let it out to roam the short halls and stairs up the center of our little building; not much to explore, but I guess better than the 300-sq-foot studio apartments that comprise this converted tenement. After venturing out, it would occasionally appear to get stuck having made it down the stairs but unable to get back up, and give up a sad blind muted howl. Other times it would make it part-way down some stairs and just stop there, standing, looking in no particular direction. That was its general state when we would see it, standing somewhere looking nowhere, motionless. One day we were coming home and it was crouched on a step above, appearing to look out between the rails towards us. As we watched, it edged forward, as if to make a jump; maybe it wasn't blind, I figured, or who knows, cats generally know what they're doing. But then it pushed off, just a bit, whacking into the bannister below, ricocheted off, and just missed falling straight down the narrow gap in the stairwell before landing on the steps below, not on its feet. Then it started up its mewling yowl again. At the time we were mostly like, what the hell? And went up to talk to the owner, who was well aware it was ailing but didn't wanted to put it down. But in retrospect, I think the cat, like most cats, knew what it was doing. [/downer]
